Gunfreak Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Standard mission in career mode. Attack ground units. We get in the area and no matter what order I give they mostly circle in the area. Occasionally dropping some bombs. I lost 2 pilots and aircraft because they just circled right above some AAA for 5 minutes. As it is now. In carrier mode. It better to just solo all the missions you fly. Mabye bring 1 wingman, using the recommended 12 aircraft. Just means you'll loses aircraft and pilots for no reason. 1
Banzai Posted July 26 Posted July 26 In my experience it works better to not give AI pilots any attack orders. When you get to the target area your pilot gives the command to look for ground targets automatically. AI guys will start their attack runs. I even saw some strafing targets with guns after they dropped bombs and rockets. This is in F-51 squadron career.
YoYo Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Following this logic, one could withdraw the commands... 😜. I'll just add that in the IL-2 GB this system is a bit lame, yes, but we have to move forward in the IL-2 Korea. Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. Banzai Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Currently the system to give attack orders does not seem to work as intended. If the issue is that AI is not attacking targets, the solution is to not give them orders and let them do it on their own. It works and career can be somewhat playable. I am sure that devs are working on improving the AI logic. If you want to get the job done and limit loitering over the target let the AI attack on their own.
YoYo Posted July 26 Posted July 26 It would be useful to "abort the mission and return to formation". I was just flying a mission and the wingmen were left over the target, so I was returning alone. Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.
Banzai Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Try 'Do like me' command. AI should start following you and try to return to formation. This works for me when the objective is completed and I egress from the target area. AI stops the attack and flies after me. One strange thing I noticed is that when you give 'Return to base' command, AI goes and lands at the nearest allied base not the home base.

This is the mission file, the AI files around for 15 minutes not doing much, when I leave the area and tell them to continue mission, they suddenly attack with great gusto, another "bug" in the mission is that as friendly aircraft circle, 4 aircraft total are destroyed by Mid-air collisions, two from my own squadron, that I now have to spend resources on replacing both pilots and aircraft. And 2 friendly AI from our F80 escorts. 2
