JollyJack Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) What allied ww2 plane has the heaviest bomb in IL2 Great Battles? For now i came up with a historical captured He111 with 2.500 LB bomb: Here's a test mission JSGME with the skin, the skin is also on Haluter's https://www.mediafire.com/file/hzmns0vyrh8125k/Todt_test_Bombing_v1g_JSGME.zip/file Edited July 25 by JollyJack
BlitzPig_EL Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Captured or not the He 111 is NOT an Allied aircraft. The only flyable aircraft that qualifies so far is the A20. Second place is either the Mosquito or the P-38. 1

Well, the Pe-2 is also classified as an Allied bomber, as is the Li-2VV. JollyJack Posted July 26 Author Posted July 26 LoL was only trying to kill a Todt, so many options to test ...
Avimimus Posted July 26 Posted July 26 I find it interesting how the bomb loads of Allied aircraft won't really increase with the new Collector planes. An SB-2 is also basically limited to a the same bomb load as the Pe-2. A Mosquito B Mk.XVI would be about 1800 kg (so comparable to the B-25 and B-26 - but not greater). So only the DB-3/Il-4 or the Tu-2 would substantially increase the bombload for twin-engine allied bombers!

You have to skip a bomb right in the gun opening, it's the only way. Maybe if you were really good with rockets you could shoot some in the aperture, but again I say, good luck.
JollyJack Posted July 28 Author Posted July 28 PS, for the IL2 wish list .... guess even if used virtually my PC won't survive it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Slam_(bomb) 1

Currently they are still using improvised (modified) smoke bombs, but at least they work and the AI pilots are experienced to locate the the japanese targets in the mountains / see 02:50... 1
JollyJack Posted July 29 Author Posted July 29 (edited) Nice video. Smoke bombs, didn't know they existed in IL2 ..... created with a fake vehicle? Wish there was a Fake Plane MCU, create UFOs., ======================== The info from Youtube ... : IL2 Great Battles mission created with modified Easy Mission Generator by Vander. The modified PTO / Kuban map is by JSOflyer and the skins are from the Faux Pacific skinpack. During the Kokoda Track campaign in 1942 the Japanese advance was stopped due to the resistence of the defenders and supply problems near Imitra Ridge only ca.20miles away from Port Moresby. The retreating Japanese troops were attacked by Australian P40 Fighter Bombers. Targets were marked by 4 SQD RAAF Wirraway planes (in this video I16 with Australian Skins). In the Papua New Guinea Mod for EMG by Vander are AI controlled planes for target marking in the template for each Kokoda Track front line available. The marker planes are activated by the presence of enemy ground troops and nearby allied planes. The smoke bombs are modded russian 50kg bombs. With the help of the smoke it is possible to recognize the targets in the jungle. The mission flown in this video is my 10th Papua New Guinea P40 campaign mission, flown with VR / Oculus Rift-S related topics IL2 Battle of Stalingrad Easy Mission Generator by Vander Edited July 29 by JollyJack

I have modified the bomb definition: I have exchanged the explosion by an existing smoke effect. Interesting is that the smoke changes it's colour in intervalls of ca. 1 minute or similar. (It's already 3 years ago that I developed this). In the EMG Kokoda front missions are some flights of Boomerangs placed. If there are "Japanese" ground troops in a defined area the target marked flight is "alarmed" by a checkzone and if then an allied plane enters the area the flight is spawned (activated) and searches for ground targets. detected targets were attacked with the smoke bombs. When you are nearby with a P39/P40/A20 fighter/bomber it is sufficient just to aim your bombs in the smoke and you have a good chance, to hit an invisible target (covered by trees). The Forward Air Control Plane arrived a bit late together with the P40 fighter bombers but 2 targets were marked. (Maybe it was luck for the FAC Plane because the AI P40 suppressed the AAA) My selfmade smoke bombs are a bit strange, the smoke changes each minute it's colour, but why not. The mission is not perfect but I have created it automatically with the next version of the EMG mod. But it is not ready for release. I suppose it is really helpfull if the human player wants to recognize a target in the jungle, for AI fighter bombers it is not required, they can see through the trees. at first the smoke is light gray: then it changes to red: And here after the second smoke bomb is dropped: 1 3 yr kraut1 changed the title to Papua New Guinea 42/44 for Easy Mission Generator (Part1B - 1942)update 12.05.2023 kraut1 Member 1.8k Location:Germany / Hessen Author Posted May 12, 2023 (edited) Update 12.05.2023: All Kokoda mountain fronts with automatic CAC12 Boomerang target markers for artillery attack mission with the Kokoda Track front lines multi coloured smoke: (Yesterday I flew the first time with VR 3 P40 Fighter Bomber missions (Kokoda Track) with targets marked by AI controlled planes with smoke bombs. Flying with VR in the mountains is really impressive.) Edited May 12, 2023 by kraut1 Edited July 29 by kraut1 1
JollyJack Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 Good Ole Arthur's skins. He helped me out explaining skinning. Never felt it needed to change from 2k to 4k. Wonder if it's worth it blowing them up. 1
