IL-2 Series is dedicated to the Korean War — a conflict in which the skies became the arena for the first large-scale confrontation between jet fighters. At the same time, aircraft of a new era met piston-powered machines from the Second World War. Today marks the 73rd anniversary of the armistice. On July 27, 1953, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed at Panmunjom. Twelve hours later, it came into effect, bringing more than three years of active fighting on land, at sea, and in the air to an end. The agreement established the Military Demarcation Line and the Demilitarized Zone. The fighting ceased, but a peace treaty was never signed, and the consequences of those events continue to shape life on the Korean Peninsula to this day. 2
