I turned the bitrate down to 100 and turned on two-pass encoding instead. That gives me about the same clarity as 150, but without the head jitter caused by the latency. I've come to believe that Virtual Desktop's performance metrics can't really be trusted. 100mbps with two-pass encoding shows up as only a couple of ms less latency, but it is significantly smoother than 200mbps. Probably it doesn't count some causes of the latency, like latency between gpu-cpu-RAM communication or other hardware related stuff. I mostly use linux and for me the best one is WiVRn, much smoother tham VD in my case. So play in vr only on linux and keep aviasim stuff on win11. After release will try to boot korea on linux, for now it's too early to try.

Cause after the release the amount of players will increase, not sure how significant, but anyway it will. There for even more bugs will be discovered and posted here. If you have a dual CCD CPU disabling SMT does actually seem to help smoothen things a touch.

Make sence acctually, if you consider that korea has problems with cpu scheduling, turning off SMT will lower the amount of threads that can be used, there for less chosing in terms of scheduling. Plus no CCD to CCD latency. My 8400f has only one CCD, so probably will do nothing for me. 1

For me 30-40% load causes stuttering, sometimes even less, regardless of FPS 2

Banzai Posted August 5 Posted August 5 The issue is still present in the release version. It really ruins the enjoyment of otherwise good flight sim. At the moment I am limited to Berloga, Yalu and Combat Box servers where the load is usually ok and head movement is smooth. Parallel 38 server with the new Pyongyang mission is very load intensive. Load goes up to 80% which results in very noticable stutters/lag in head movement. Single player is still choppy when load goes above 15%, which is a case for every type of mission in the career. It is a big letdown currently. I have decent rig, AMD Ryzen 7800X3D and 5070ti and am limited to simple MP and SP mission if I want smooth gameplay. All this while keeping near constant 120fps. It would be nice to get this issue acknowledged by the devs and solution offered or some info that this can be reproduced on their end. This issue does not appear in any other sim I play, including scripted campaigns with a lot of A.I. in DCS (Reflected's campaigns where there are often flights of up to 30 P-47s and large formations of B-17s to escort). Please fix this or at least identify the cause of the issue and offer workarounds. How can you say that the game is running well when headtracking is choppy as soon as there is more than A.I. 6 planes in the air and some ground targets? All this on one of the better gaming CPUs. 4
YoYo Posted August 5 Posted August 5 That's right, I don't see any improvement after release, which means the pre-release phase was focused on content. This is somewhat understandable. However, now it's worth redirecting your efforts to optimization. Unfortunately, after release, I even feel like performance is worse. My frame rate in airports is lower than before. Cities (like Seoul) remain unchanged, with a noticeable FPS drop. Without significant improvements, it won't be fun, and I have a 5090. If we have to wait for the RTX 6090 (late 2027 or early 2028), then in this state, without significant changes, many users may be turned off. 2 Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. Mossa666 Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) Same here. Quite disappointing tbh. I thought this was an early access bug but it still breaks the game for me not beeing able to fly any "larger" missions - which is like 99% of the stuff you do in IL2, right?. 302_Miro Posted August 6 Author Posted August 6 Same here, no improvment after relase. @YoYo It's not GPU, it's bottlenecked only two CPU core usage. 1
cbdeusdete Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I have an RTX 5070 Ti, a Ryzen 7 5700X3D, and 32 GB of RAM, and I’ve experienced the same issue not only with IL-2 Korea but also with IL-2 Great Battles. Can anyone help me?
