FuriousMeow Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) Took damage to the wing of my F51 and managed to nurse it back to base. Did this in GB with a Camel, but usually with the WW2 planes it was silk time once damage like this occurred as that part wasn't long for the plane. So this is a big improvement for potentially flying out a heavily damaged bird. Sorry for the washout/grey effect, have HDR enabled in Windows as I have a HDR monitor - looks so much better looking at the monitor: Camel from GB from a few months ago. this was a much longer flight back as I was across the front lines for this: Edited July 22 by FuriousMeow 1
Panzerlang Posted July 23 Posted July 23 I flew across the map, west to east, as the sun was coming up. Lawzy me, what a thing of beauty this map is. Bonus is, Korea's topography is the same as Japan's, so what I see from the cockpit is what I see looking out the windows at home (I'm in the boonies, 30km west of Kyoto). With the IRacing gizmo/app making everything so smooth it was an hour of bliss. 🙂 2 1 Gigabyte Aorus Elite Mobo. No mods. AMD 9800X3D CPU. No mods. RTX 5090 GPU. No mods. 64GB G-Skill RAM at 6000mhz. BlitzPig_EL Posted July 23 Posted July 23 (edited) And on that note, all we need are some Ki-61s and some P-40Ns, and bingo! We can have a stand in for New Guinea, or keep the Mustangs and B-29s we have, add the Hein, George, and Hayate, and we have defense of the Home Islands. 😁 Edited July 23 by BlitzPig_EL 1

It's one of the most suspenseful suspensions of disbelief moments now doing a dogfight, when the custom music kicks in and I celebrate the slaughter over downtown Korea with an aerobatics display for the locals. I don't want to land or hit exit.
AndreiTomescu Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Great immersion: if you're too low, upon request of mission vector by radio it says you can't be localised. Very nice and accurate! Also, after a strong flak hit (P-80) the engine caught fire and shut down. Managed to starve and extinguish the fire by diving, restarted the engine, it did restart eventually (about 50 m to ground), but smoking hard, and died some minutes later, buying me enough time to cross the front line. (However didn't enjoy the possible survival due to crash to desktop)

FuriousMeow Posted July 23 Posted July 23 The details on the armor are also really well done. Close up views of the tanks and self-propelled artillery very much look like armor in person. I mean the way the "skin" is textured looks like forged armor from back in the day. In general the ground vehicles are very well done. Even if they have some interaction issues - like I'm looking at a Jeep troop carrier on the side of a bridge on ramp with the guard rail going down the middle of it and while the driver may only have lost his thumb thy guys behind him will be in wheelchairs for the rest of their lives, or a tank decided to drive to the bottom of a bomb crater that was right in front of it, or the vehicles just straight up running into objects and getting disabled or stuck... they just need more pathfinding capabilities. Otherwise they look so nice.
AndreiTomescu Posted July 26 Posted July 26 - the forward controller is now an aircraft, like it really was. with some hicups, they do vector you to the target. you can see it on the map/minimap with a round dotted circle around. Couldn't find it in real game world, so i dunno what model is it. - the AI mates do a very good job in ground pounding themselves. - the aircrafts are better designed in their flying behavior. The Mustang really gave me the feeling of an old, worn out machine, compared to the snappy one in GB - the AA are firing in salves, with pauses, taking time to reload
Airborne2001 Posted July 28 Posted July 28 I just recently saw a cockpit video of a P-51, and I almost thought I was gonna smell the engine fuel. Weird I know lol, but it shows just how insanely immersive this game is. It's awesome how they still manage to get better over the years after already releasing great products. 1 1
AndreiTomescu Posted July 28 Posted July 28 The fog around mountain peaks. While sneaking towards target to avoid airfield radars, passing that gave a "home" feeling. The radars are actually working! See, in campaign, airfield attack mission, Mustangs deployment: - if we go hot, high and straight, the flak is gonna fire quite early on - if we go hugging valley and hopping mountain peaks, the flak is almost taken by surprise on the first run Tried this 3 times, on different airfields, it's true. 6

GiftGruen Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Well… in such a forum, there is a lot of critics, complaints, bug reports and performance issues. This is maybe also the purpose of a forum. Besides all this feedback that probably sometimes sounds rather negative to the devs: This new game engine is a beauty, I love it and for sure a big part of the community love it. Devs sounded very proud in DevBlogs. And: yeah - you can be proud! Bugs will be solved. Performance issues also, maybe by Murphys law. Cheers 🥃 3 2 Rig - RTX5090 + i5-14600KF + Pimax Dream Air Content - Flying Circus 1-4 + IL2-BoX ( all sceneries ) + IL2-Korea

However, EA's status is essentially "open, paid beta." This means the product is in development, so reporting bugs, problems, etc. isn't criticism, but rather a search for solutions. It's a constructive dialogue intended to help developers, and therefore us :). I don't see anything here as criticism at all. Besides, we're playing IL-2 Korea, and it looks like it'll be a great title in the future 👌. For now, it's experiencing childhood illnesses, which is normal for a production of this caliber and with certain expectations. 1 Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. MiGCap Posted August 1 Posted August 1 I must admit that since the release of this really GREAT game I have put DCS aside ... Well done, and we are only in the very beginning! By the way, I only fly in VR. With a more than five year old plain vanilla 3090 and a standard Pimax. Obviously, it must be a good combination, the FPS are not high (I am always in the 30s) but no stutter, all is fluid, good playable in MP and SP. Developer team, thank You for Your work! 🙏👍👍👍 3

So far, the same, but there's nothing interesting happening in DCS right now and basically no new stuff, so I did it without regrets ;). The F-100D and F-14B(U) can wait; the MiG-17F will probably also be released, and maybe the PTO along with the F6F will finally be released, but that's at the end of the year. It's the perfect time to focus on Korea. I'll go even further: although I'm not currently flying the IL-2 GB, I bought some campaigns on SALE at good prices to support the developers in the further development of Korea. Uther Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Personally I'd like to register a complaint about IL-2 Korea. I fired it up last night fully intending to spend an hour in the campaign but next time I looked at the clock on the wall it was 6 hours later and 2am. 2 8 2 9800X3D / Asus Radeon RX 7900 XT TUF OC / Corsair Vengeance EXPO 64GB / W11
AndreiTomescu Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Edit : last night i pusued ,with a determination only found in Brave Heart's pants, the elusive airborne controller! And it was a Mustang. IMHO, it's a fair substitute for those T-10 or else they had. Well said, MigCap mate, well said. Taking aside that one person, in a given moment, will spend time in one game or another, i'd like to humbly notice that, one game is plane focused, ant all the maps and stuff are there just to make that plane shine, and another game is focused on a specific "map" - theatre of operations, actually- and all the planes are there to make that enviroment shine. YoYo previous post makes a very good case about this. The "bug" Uther discovered is indeed very problematic. 🙂 I also have the tendency to say "one full mission (i never skip time, unless i'm doing the same mission 3rd time or more) and i'll go to bed" . Problem is that after 3 missions, despite my eyes popping down on the stick, there are sooo many things to settle in the squadron! 1

I learned the F-100D as fast as possible as I eagerly awaited the module. I knew what I would do when IL-2:Korea is published. 😄 And I am really looking forward to all the WW2 1944 PTO stuff as it will be in the first time all would fit together in DCS - modules, map, ships, assets etc. That’s the main problem with DCS, nothing really fits together. 🙁 In the modern DCS environments, I prefer the Cold War Germany map as I started my military flying career (aircrew, not pilot) in the Luftwaffe in the mid-1980s and love the MiG-29 which I accompanied as public affairs officer from 1990 (when I got my first photo ride as westerner in this jet even before unification) until 2004 when we transferred the aircraft to Poland, but when I clash in the game with the late-model DCS F-15s or F-16s I have only small chances. In real life, the FULCRUM had at least the advantage with the HMD until the early 1990s. 🤷🏼 2

Yah had to settle a fight last night when a 2nd Lieutenant challenged another officer on his kill score! 2 nights in the brig!
AndreiTomescu Posted August 1 Posted August 1 something else i really appreciate about Korea: it brought active on the forum many, many new members. That is really great. 2
Jade_Monkey Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 Just another thing to be appreciative for: the mission editor seems very stable, i have not had any crashes so far. AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | Nvidia RTX 4090 | 32 GB DDR4 | nVME SSD | VR headset: Pimax Dream Air SLAM
FuriousMeow Posted August 2 Posted August 2 The updated engine makes use of bump mapping a lot more, specifically with the terrain. Its most noticeable down low ground pounding when the sun is lower in the sky but is evident at all times. It gives the fields, roads, and river banks depth from otherwise flat textures. I remember first seeing terrain bump mapping with B17 II The Mighty Eighth, was such a promising feature for terrain that has been so rarely used. Also that game ran atrociously. Still had fun with it though.
