gecko Posted Tuesday at 09:24 AM Posted Tuesday at 09:24 AM I have a request for separate key bindings to be added for adjusting and caging the various instruments. I don't find the current system of cycling through the controllable gauges and then adjusting them to be at all helpful for those of us who want to engage that layer of the simulation. Not sure if it is covered in the technochat, but I prefer to avoid any text popping on on my screen. I feel the airplane's modeling and indication systems and my knowledge of it should be sufficient in a simulation for flying it. Mostly the sim does a good job, but having to guess which instrument knob I'm on in the cycle, and scanning for the sometimes very tiny or out of view animations which are the only way to know, makes this way harder than it should be. In a real airplane I can make these adjustments almost without thinking about them. So, would it be possible to give us the ability to give these controls their own key bindings individually? This would make these features so much more usable and would require a realistically small amount of the pilot's attention. This would also be a useful place for a limited application of clickable cockpits, though I understand the team has reasons for not going that route, limiting it to instruments would be a good compromise. I know that particular solution is quite unlikely and that's fine; I do hope some key bindings can be arranged though. 1 2
86Cheese Posted Tuesday at 12:49 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:49 PM I agree, I feel like the current system is definitely a step in the right direction however, practically speaking, feels more like a novelty than a useful tool. Its kind of fun to play around with and see that it can be done, but actually trying to use it feels ridiculous when you're mid flight and realize what you're doing should have been nothing more than a turn of a knob. It makes what should be a simple task needlessly obtuse. 1
Dash,Polder Posted Tuesday at 04:12 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:12 PM I'll third that with a pretty please and a cherry on top. Navigation on and the pace with speeds on this huge map demands it.
