I really like the new guncamera feature but I think it needs some slight improvements.

1. The camera should be fixed in position if at all possible, currently it constantly moves and I have to reset it.
2. The resolution is pretty bad and makes ground attack recordings a big blur. Irl the film wasn't that blurry, 16mm film is actually pretty clear for the most part.
3. It'd be cool to be able to have multiple camera angles with the old film effect, especially the free camera. Or just an option to apply the effect to and active camera.

Here is some ingame screenshots compared to irl footage. As you can see the real footage is much clearer. Ingame footage is practically unusable.

Also give it to jets. Seems only the p51 has it. But i very much agree on the fixed view.

But remember there are many factors for the quality of film. In many instances the film was not in great condition.

Even during the Vietnam war, the quality of the film could very widely

True about the quality but that has more to do with how the film was handled and stored. New film is good quality. Most of the artifacts we see in guncam films today is due to degradation over the decades.
It'd be cool to see various levels of degradation that would be applied or selectable in the menu.

Is there an implementation issue with the guncam in VR? Looks like it only works in 2D
