Natalie Posted July 1 Posted July 1 Congratulations on making this game, my first impressions have me really excited for it's future. One concern though, why is the map cut off before the Pusan Peninsula? This seems like quite an important part to include for the early part of the war. I'm not a historian so, I'll just rely on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Pusan_Perimeter I understand this was primarily a ground war so there may be some reason for not including it with aircraft available in early access. Perhaps the map could be expanded as part of a future expansion in a similar way to previous IL-2 titles like Battle of Normandy, we could have Battle of the Naktong River maybe along with additional units that would have participated in that part of the conflict. Beyond that having it included for certain "What If" situations would be beneficial, such as What If MacArthur chose to land at Pusan instead of Incheon. I've not been able to do much flying as yet so I'm very much just looking around the UI, Museum and map at the moment. When I can get the time, I may see what flying south from Chungju looks like, maybe all the terrain is there it's just not on the planning map which would still makes creating missions difficult. Probably not necessary but I've added a screenshot of how far the map extends compared to the real Korea. Keep up the good work and hope this can be added in the future. 1C Game Studios LukeFF Posted July 1 1C Game Studios Posted July 1 The game's career mode starts in April 1951 so that, combined with the fact that the map is already so large, means that part wasn't modeled.

Because the career and the entire game are primarily dedicated to aerial warfare, this determines the timeframe and much more. With the exception of the first couple of months of the war, UN aviation faced no enemy in the air for almost the entirety of 1950. The first MiG-15s entered combat in November 1950 only, but they were based outside our map. UN aviation were also based off-map (and generally outside the Korean Peninsula, at Japanese air bases) for part of 1950, and in early 1951, they again left the Seoul area. By early April 1951, the first Soviet MiG-15 regiments began arriving at forward airfields near the Korean border, and UN aircraft returned to airfields near Seoul. This is the only possible time to start our career, with the condition of its continuity and equal opportunities for both sides of the conflict. Other time periods and battles can be reconstructed in the single-player missions or campaigns but are not suitable for our career. 1

UN close air support was the only thing that saved South Korea. And stuff like Chosin Resovair, is probably the biggest success of close air support in aviation history. By 51, there was almost no Communist air activity South of the Yalu. The Sabres made sure of that. So the yak, il10, la11 serve very little to no purpose. Korea has massively improved the ground attack and close air support. Adding infantry, much improved terrain graphics. The first 6 months would let you in the F51 move from runways all the way in the south, into north Korea. Give air support for the 3 or 4 battles of Soul and many other cities.

These are all interesting and important episodes of the war, but I'll repeat once again that with the current borders of the map it's impossible to start a career before April 1951, provided that it should not have time gaps and be complete for both sides.

Thanks for clarifying. I’ll still keep my fingers crossed for an “Early Years” DLC in the future. 1 Windows 11 Pro, Intel i9-11900K @ 3.5Ghz, 128GB RAM, NVidia GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU
