Or a stroke of faith. Or a stroke of hand. Or the hand of faith. 🙂 The Il-10s attacked their own side's airfield, defended by Mustangs. Anyhow, i've learned a bit of navigation: best navigation marker is a ...mouth. This time, a river one. 🙂 It was one hell of a mission. Good job, guys, and thanks for sharing that with us. =GW=Gelan Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I’ve often wondered if that fortunate F-51 pilot was none other than myself. On that mission, I was flying escort for an F-84 when I spotted two MiG-15bis slipping into its 6 o’clock position, closing in fast. My F-51 could not match the jets’ speed, and by the time I surged to the scene, the MiGs had already opened fire, sending the F-84 down in flames. I immediately targeted the firing MiG and shot it out of the sky, then turned hard to engage the second bandit, outmaneuvering him and scoring a kill before he could break away. Both enemy pilots bailed out safely, and I assumed the fight was over for them. I remained on station over the target, orbiting to wait for my wingmen to arrive and suppress the ground defenses. Instead of my teammates, however, the very same two MiG-15bis I had just shot down reappeared — those two players I’d forced to eject had respawned and come back for revenge. What followed was a brutal, swirling dogfight where I had to fend off both MiGs’ coordinated attacks at the same time. Alone in my P-51, I fought both jets simultaneously, claiming one confirmed kill and severely damaging the second, which was forced to disengage and limp home.
