When using the Engine Helpers do I still need to map a button to "boost" - I assume this only applies to piston aircraft.

It is not piston only, the F-80 uses the boost command to engage water methanol injection for a shorter take off run.

But its different key, not „Boost on/off” right?

No, the F-80C uses the default 055 Boost: on/off key for water  methanol injection. Do not confuse it with the JATO keys, that is a different system (056 Jet boosters: Fire / 057 Jet boosters: Jettison)

That's what I was thinking about JATO, I haven't tried it yet, thanks.
