Buffo002 Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Hello, I want to ask if anyone has a problem with locking (the rear wheel) on piston aircraft, it worked for me on the only one, during takeoff, IL-2 10. Otherwise, no, I haven't tried the F-51 yet, but I can't lock it on the Yak-9 and La-11 before takeoff, but as soon as I put the autopilot on, the autopilot locks the rear wheel, is it the W key?
Dash,Polder Posted June 26 Posted June 26 By this time in military tail dragger's development most had a tail wheel controlled by pulling the stick a third or more back. It didn't totally lock the wheel, just give you greater control by limiting the degrees it could pivot when the stick was back. The Mustang was equipped like that from the very start, it was fairly common already during WWII. Try and hold stick back any time you are below 100 Mph.
Czech693 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) Yes, W is the tail/nose wheel lock for aircraft that use a switch rather than pulling the joystick back. It appears that the La and Yak use the stick back, the IL uses a lever (switch), and MiG is free wheeling. Edited June 28 by Czech693
