Gunfreak Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Google doesn't give an answer. I fly with no hud elements. So suddenly the screen is dark and i show up at the target
AlexandreCosta Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I would like to know that as well. I enjoy the immersion of the flight to target.
Jaegermeister Posted June 26 Posted June 26 That is a preset event in the Black Thursday demo mission. You will usually get a text box with options to skip to a further point or continue flying, if the feature is enabled in that specific mission. YoYo Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Well, I don't really know who these shortcuts and sudden appearance over the target are for. They should be optional, not standard. Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.
Gunfreak Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 If there's a box that says anything. It's not visible with hud turned off.
FreeErik Posted June 26 Posted June 26 My first reaction was i LOVE THIS! Much worse for immersion killing is being halfway a 30 minute flight before the "action" starts and my wife calling for dinner! 10
GOOT66 Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Is there any way to disable this? it totally ruins the immersion 1

Felipe_Czar Posted August 10 Posted August 10 An option on difficulty section or somewhere else to disable the time skip window from popping up is very welcome. It is quite immersion breaking as it is. Flying the aircraft is not a burden to some of us. It is pleasurable. Thanks. 2

Searching google before posting here for a way to disable this window I came across posts on the search results calling "flying the mission towards the target" being a "waste of time" in regarding to IL-2 BoS. This is quite wild as flying being one of the gratifying things about combat flight sims. Not having an option to disable this is the real issue. I hope to see it being possible in the future. I don't care about what the game/sim has. Just asking for the option to avoid any pop up window to appear unsolicited in the middle of the screen while flying a plane. Cellinsky Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Sometimes I am short of time and welcome a shortcut to the action-zone. For me it would be nice to have a show on/off toggle (not disable) in the settings, and a keybind to force it on screen when I want to skip. I agree, I love flying formation from and to the target. I also see the need for the skip. 1

Quite to the contrary; the whole point of these popups is to cater to your demographic. Otherwise they'd likely just automatically skip to the target like in the Black Thursday mission, as that seems to be what the majority of players want.

JL1 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I sometimes use this feature if the mission is very long and I have limited time. However 90% of the time I do not use it. I think a good solution would include two updates: 1) Ability to turn time skip off completely in the general options. 2) Ability to toggle time skip on or off on a per mission basis during the mission planing. I would like it set off by default but for a very long mission I could turn it on just for that mission. It does not seem like this would be a difficult update to implement and it would make a lot of people happy. I think the issue is more that 1) it adds clutter to the settings page, and 2) right now the implementation of the dialog box is content-agnostic. That enables mission writers to do various fancy things with it (e.g. right now I'm working on a mission that requires the user to report enemies as he passes over them). But it also means that popup boxes cannot be automatically skippable, because they might be absolutely necessary for mission completion. So you're correct that technically it should not be too difficult to implement; however it does require some well thought-out policy and that's easier said than done. That said, it might be possible with a mod. I'll see if I can cook up something if I have time. 1
JG4_Moltke71 Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Just my two cents: It would be nice to have an option to enable/disable these time skip options 🙏🏻 2 ASUS ROG-ASTRAL-RTX5090-32GB GDDR7; ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING; AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 4,3GHz AM5; DDR5 64GB PC 6000 CL30 G.Skill Varjo Aero Headset
AEthelraedUnraed Posted August 12 Posted August 12 (edited) Alright, here you go. Mod_no_dialogs.zip This mod will prevent the current "time skip" dialogs from showing up. It does require you to have Mods On (Settings->Game->Customization->Game Modifications->Enabled) but that shouldn't be a huge issue since the time skip is single player only anyway. This only hides the current dialog boxes; it doesn't hide other dialogs that the Devs or mission writers may come up with. It also doesn't guarantee proper mission execution in all cases; what happens if the button events don't fire is ultimately the responsibility of the mission writer. If the mission logic doesn't account for buttons not being pressed, there's nothing I can do to change that. Edited August 12 by AEthelraedUnraed 1
FuriousMeow Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I was hoping the time skip could just be initiated by a key press. The current method is a bit intrusive. Example: 1990s Red Baron, Aces over Europe, Aces of the Pacific, B17 Bombers in Action and I think European Air War had a key press to skip to next waypoint. You'd arrive at the next way point unless the mission had an interruption before the WP, like an intercept or enemies detected, then it would drop you just before engagement. At the very least the current method could remain but a keyless brings up the dialog box instead of it popping up on its own because it does it at the most inopportune times. Had it pop up 2 times pretty close time wise while I was getting into position for an attack run on the Black Thursday mission. 2

Yeah, I have no idea how possible it is with the engine, but I guess if I had to pick a "dream" scenario with it (as someone who does like to use it often when I'm trying to get a few career flights in after work before dinner) would be a way where you can just map a key to "Skip to Next Waypoint" or "Skip to 20km from Combat Area" and then to also have an option in the menu that lets you disable the prompt if you'd rather rely on the hot key and not have the game prompt you. 1
Felipe_Czar Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Alright. This pop up prompt gotta go. It does have a distance trigger regardless of action. It popped up 2 times in a fighting scenario in a career mission. Once when I was extending out of a furball and the second when I was scanning for targets going back in said furball. Whatever you guys need because of time constraints irl, but there needs to be an option to toggle it off. It is super intrusive as it is now. There is plenty of space in the difficulty setting area. Put it there: 1
YoYo Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Exactly, here's a good suggestion whether you want to see it or not. +1 Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.

Put it there: Did you try my mod? I explained above why this issue isn't as easy as just putting an option button somewhere. This system is designed for flexibility and extendibility, but the downside is that they cannot just blanket-block all prompts. PS if the prompt pops up during combat during an official or career-generated mission, there's a good chance it's a bug (or at least an oversight) and you can report it in the bug report forum.
