76.IAP-Black Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Hi guys, i need your advise cause i can't find the settings in win 11 or with the help of google. When i start the game, my PC is begins to fire up like a F-86 jet engine and stays on high rpm and heat all the time. I know i have set settings in the past for other games to overcome this 100% boost mode. But i cant find the settings anymore, cause i did it back in 25. Can someone point me pls to the win11 settings to reduce the standart boost mode of my PC? Thanks in advance Martin
AndreiTomescu Posted June 26 Posted June 26 (edited) If by boost you refer to the noisy cooling, then the appropriate fan speed settings are in BIOS. However, if you have fewer fans than necessary, they will run like crazy horses. The pc is running on high power due to demanding game. Best option to balance both would be to have an liquid cooling for the cpu, and fill the case with coolers (please be sure you place them as to ensure an air flow, as from front to the back and up, or other variants) Any info of fotos with your rig might help some tuning ideas. I bought a new rig for korea, managed to maintain my marriage through the process 🙂 , but had to make some amendments: weak motherboard (poor heatsinks) , small tower, few coolers. Added 4 coolers, even one little one blowing to the VRMs, and life is good. The hole idea is that with your rig at full blast, the stock cooling system is running turbo, and still not enough: so you get power throttle down. Proper cooling, even over cooling, is going to be quieter and full power P.S. fans are quite cheap and easy to install (fan hub might be needed), so it's an easy road Edited June 26 by AndreiTomescu 1
76.IAP-Black Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 My rig isnt something special: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700KF (3.40 GHz) Gigabyte Z790D Motherboard 32GB DDR5-A2 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER (16 GB) but i have managed to tune down the boost for warthunder, so you can run the game in 4k and ultra settings without having a jetengine with afterburner next to you, running at 110% all the time. I believe it is possible to tune it for il2, dcs and RDR2, but last time I tuned it that way, I forgot where the settings are located in the windows settings .. stupid me
Xtremist Posted June 26 Posted June 26 You can undervolt the gpu in nvidia app or msi afterburner, the card will run way cooler. For the cpu, you can manage the settings in the BIOS. 1
AndreiTomescu Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Undervolting is the next good step, but imho, proper cooling in the first one. Undervolting also helps against power throttle, but has to go along with cooling. If the tower case is tall enough, there are some liquidcooling kits that include VRM fan, a laaarge and quiet one. Put one on the former pc, not an option for the new "beast" : not such a beast, but it should do the job. (9700x, rx9070xt,32ram at 5600 but on EXPO1) Comrade's 76.IAP's rig is a really fine one, imho. But from my knowledge this cpu runs at about 280w and heats like my beloved Mig15 in the Korean sun. So a fine liquid cooler is a must. The motherboard is very good, I doubt that is heating up. The 4070 ti super has low power consumption. 1

The gpu, better to tune from nvidia app. But! Il2, dcs, rdr2🥰 are really hungry games. Warthunder, well, not so much. For these 3 beauties, you really need all the power you can get. So, throttle down from windows is not an option. My choice would be to increase cooling, as to run at full speed ahead, but at some reasonable temps for the specific rig: like 85 for the cpu, and 75 for the gpu 1

Maybe I need to spend a bit more for active cooling, the fans are good and produce a good flow, with air running from intake to exhaust section of my PC So the main target is now, liquid cooling for the CPU that seems to be the heater in my rig 😅 You have no idea how it feels to sit next to it during this summer in europe Edited June 26 by 76.IAP-Black
AndreiTomescu Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Oh, but i do....my rig sits in a....closet cockpit! (Check the "show us your cockpit" thread 🙂 ) For my former rig (had a taller case) i bought this and it is awesome. https://www.emag.ro/cooler-arctic-liquid-freezer-iii-pro-240-racire-cu-lichid-aio-240mm-intel-amd-negru-acfre00178a/pd/DTND3H3BM/?utm_campaign=share_product&utm_source=mobile_dynamic_share&utm_medium=android There is also a 3 fans option. With the 2 fans one, my older rig (5700G cpu) stayed at 60 degrees(!!) on il2 GB. It was 67 euros, and included everything, thermal paste, adapters, screws, everything
