DSB Posted June 22 Posted June 22 After ensuring the fuel is topped off prior to takeoff, the fuel gauge reads empty when sitting on the runway at idle ready to takeoff. This applies to Spitfire Mk.Vb, Mk.IXc, and MkIXe. Later models of the Spitfire have accurate readings.

The binding is 2nd from the bottom under plane engine controls. 1
Czech693 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 The British fuel gauge also does not give the total fuel quantity. It only gives the amount in the bottom auxillary tank. Calos_01 Member 101 Posted October 22, 2025 Spitfires really have two tanks. Top one is not gauged and is beeing spent first. Only bottom one is gauged. You need to push button (shift+I I believe) to make gauge to show current level of the fuel. That means, that spitfire gauge always shows full tank untill top one is empty 1
