Crumble Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Hi all, Anyone able to help me a typhoon engine management question? I’m coming from DCS where you have full manual control and a user guide to work out what needs to be bound. Does IL-2 have individual aircraft manuals and what you need to bind? It seems way more confusing than DCS?? For example the only aircraft info I’ve found is specification page when you open the map - all it says are the typhoon has an oil and water set of radiators. I can get the water one to work but the oil options are endless and none of them move an oil lever/switch etc. the key bindings have oil options for He-111 and p-47 etc. There are also auto and manual options? Is that like cheat mode? When you use the key combo you dont get any feedback in game your in auto or manual?? Anyways thanks in advance.
SCG_Tzigy Posted June 23 Posted June 23 I know it is lil confusing at times. Typhoon and Tempest have only ONE combined radiator cntr
Riderocket Posted June 23 Posted June 23 (edited) typhoon needs engines throttle control propeller RPM control engines mixture control Bf109/110 and british aircraft water radiator open Bf109/110 and british aircraft water radiator close reason why they are different from the usual water radiators is the fact that one is an axis and one is a switch as for switches for auto/manual control, the ones that are set by difficulty are the automatic mixtures, radiators and RPM certain aircraft also have cockpit switches for changing to auto/manual, like the Bf109 Prop Pitch "switch propellers pitch control mode: auto/manual" becuase those aircraft had those options IRL Edited June 23 by Riderocket 1 Intel i7-10700, NVIDIA RTX 4070, 32 GB RAM, 2TB NVMe, Thrustmaster Warthog Joystick, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle, Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals, Quest 3.

There are two "automatic" options: First, some aircrafts do have an automatic mode. For example every Bf 109 (except 109-E7) has automatic radiators . There is a switch in the cockpit to control them manually and you can bind it to a button. (for finer control in certain situations or whatever) Second, is a helper option. (like icons over aircraft or unlimited ammo) The game will automatically manage radiators and mixture for you, even in planes where you have to do it by hand. It is not really a "cheat" because you can only use it if the option is enabled in realisim/server settings. Quote When you use the key combo you dont get any feedback in game your in auto or manual?? I just tested and it appears you have to enable "tech chat" to get the status. (sorry, I do not know what the actual english name is, the option where it will tell you the percentage if you move throttle etc) When you press any of the hotkeys listed by Riderocket then it will show status via icons like in the screenshot below.
