We didn't just add music to the game—we are creating an entire audio system that adapts to the action unfolding in the game. KillerBee Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Giving us OGG capability and the ability to play our own music as well as the included tracks is absolutely great!! I can hear all those great 50’s tunes already!! 2
LuftManu Posted June 16 Posted June 16 That sounds really good! 😄 Having the option to have it or not wil always be the best approach as probably some folks don't want any music, but I think it will be cool to have several tracks for several moments of the flight. 1 3 Rig: RTX 5090 ASUS TUF / Ryzen 9850 X3D /Gigabyte X870E Pro X3D Motherboard / 48 GB DDR5 Teamgroup 8000 MT/s / MSI 321 URX QD-OLED 32" 4K
Lofte Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Music should immerse you in the context, not just be background music in a menu.. Spoiler
kodamcity Posted June 17 Posted June 17 It seems like this is the first time in the IL-2 series since IL-2 Birds of Prey that music plays during gameplay. I will probably turn the music off when playing multiplay, but it looks like it will be useful in singleplay campaigns. Spoiler As an aside, I am sharing a link to the most popular song in South Korea during the Korean War. Created after the recapture of Seoul, this song was reportedly the most popular among the public at the time because it reflected the hardships of the early war. Thanks to soldiers enjoying singing it, it is now also used as a military anthem. From my perspective as someone who served in the conscription system, it is nothing more than a song that evokes terrible memories; however, I believe it was music that greatly boosted the morale of the public and soldiers during the Korean War. (Modern Korean men who have completed their military service probably wouldn't like it very much. 😆)
kodamcity Posted June 17 Posted June 17 I have a question. What are the criteria for the music to switch to combat mode? Does it switch to combat music when an enemy aircraft approaches within a certain distance? If so, I would realize an enemy aircraft is nearby simply by the game music suddenly switching to combat music. In multiplayer games, it seems that surprise attacks or infiltration would become impossible due to the music. 2

Without sounding overly negative considering the work involved in this music is the first thing I turn off.

I suspect the only way to get this right would be to have an FOV check so that the player has to look in the direction of the enemy - as well as be within a certain range.
E69_julian57 Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Hello I think the music aspect is more suited to single-player games.
Jade_Monkey Posted June 17 Posted June 17 I think its a great feature for those who seek some ambiance and a more cinematic experience in SP. Love what I've heard so far on the trailers, congrats Dmitry! 1 AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | Nvidia RTX 4090 | 32 GB DDR4 | nVME SSD | VR headset: Pimax Dream Air SLAM
Avimimus Posted June 17 Posted June 17 I must say that the trailer music really is iconic. I was actually looping it earlier.
Dash,Polder Posted June 17 Posted June 17 Think not it's a coincidence the music feature and social media maker partnership announcement occur at the same hour. This feature is made for them. I do think it's good and smart these guys are leaving the real meat and potato game reveal to basically uncontrollable hobbiest media channels made up of our kind. Shows a lot of confidence in their work.

If the tracks included in "korea" are of the same kind, why not, it could give some atmosphere to the flights.
Aapje Posted June 18 Posted June 18 This one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzTAPY4uEYE Might be the most Russian video I've ever seen. Only thing missing is a super-depressing ending.
