Add 1 Minute Emergency Power to the Bf 109 G-2 (without Engine Modification)

Hello,

I'd like to suggest adding the historical 1-minute emergency power setting to the Bf 109 G-2, even when the engine modification is not installed.

According to available documentation, the DB 605A engine was capable of operating at 1.42 ata manifold pressure for a limited period as an emergency setting. Currently, the aircraft only receives this capability after unlocking the engine modification, which effectively ties a historically available engine setting to a gameplay upgrade.

A more historically accurate implementation would be to allow the Bf 109 G-2 access to the 1-minute emergency setting in stock configuration, while keeping the engine modification for improved reliability, cooling, maintenance state, or other performance-related benefits. (3-minute emergency)

This would better reflect the aircraft's real-world capabilities and bring the G-2 closer to its documented performance without significantly affecting game balance.

Thank you for considering the suggestion.

Sincerely
Roland_HUNter

According to available documentation, DB 605 couldn't operate at 1.42 Ata reliably for quite a while, with multiple documents (others besides the ones presented as well) saying that the mode was blocked from being used.

Yes, this is an old, well-argued discussion in which the facts are settled. Use the mod if you want the extra power.

Great!

I fully support historical accuracy in the game.

When will the maximum engine temperature limits of the Yak series be corrected?

When will the well-documented roll rates of the La-5FN and several other Soviet aircraft be adjusted to reflect their historical performance?

I believe we should strive for historical accuracy in all aspects of the game, regardless of nation or aircraft type.

Thank you for your continued work on improving the simulation.

Possibly if there is time in the future they will be looked at. But, you can't expect the team to constantly reevaluate these planes, especially when once again you provided no documentation. 🙂
