I got it, I think. Steam = my PlayStore from ps5. Buy a game, uninstall afterwards, the right to use it is still there, the save files, everything else kept waiting.

Since I use PC in gaming just for il2 since I got the ps5, it's useless for me but beneficial for many others.

Got it, thank you guys!

P.S. than nice picture with the....cowboy and the angel 😉 is from that movie, Jet Pilot, I reckon....

BF6, Stalker 2, Outer Wilds and SOMA I had to go in and disable the Steam controller by default and Steam overlay. They kept trying to use my HOTAS as a Steam controller.

I don't own those games, so I don't know about their controller support. However, isn't that a decision by the game developers? I don't think Steam forces any game to have Steam controller support does it?

As far as updating in the background, that's not good for performance. The only time I update games is when I'm not gaming. So when I launch Steam to play a game, any downloads instantly get paused. So there's no benefit there.

Not sure what your point is? My Steam client runs in the background. Most of the time I'm behind my PC, I'm either working from home, or browsing the web. Steam's updating process doesn't have any measurable impact on my web browser's performance, or vice versa. On the other hand, my game updates happen mostly during these moments so when I want to play a game, it has already updated.

Maybe you have a dedicated gaming PC that you only boot up when you want to game. In which case Steam doesn't provide much benefits for your usecase. But for other usecases like mine, it's actually a very convenient piece of software.

Pre-ordered a while ago, so I'm super looking forward to getting the feel of it.

It would be good to know what will and won't be included in EA's release. A roadmap, simply including day-one content, would be helpful.

Details about the content of Early Access will be published later in the near future.

We will tell you which aircraft, modes, and features will be available to players at the start of Early Access.

I'm a bit confused. Wasn't the early access announced last Saturday already?

Is there a difference between a "Korea: IL-2 Series Early Access Start Date Announcement" and a "Korea. IL-2 Series — Early Access Date Announcement"?

I guess steam platform is not included in pre order and won't be available at June 25?

Maybe the early access announcement was announced too early?

Hi!

At the moment, Early Access on Steam is not planned.

Early Access is part of the pre-order program, and pre-orders are currently available only through the official store on the game's website.

Kind regards,

Yes steam works great for me, my wife works from home and normally turns my PC on to do personal stuff and generally leaves it on all day as it's on the desk next to where she works. So all my updates happen during the day. Plus I change the priority of my game updates, so they install straight away.

Preorder from 1CGS with early access and discount or wait for the Steam release Q4 without discount. How important is it to have a Steam version really I am asking myself.

Using Steam:

- Doesn't add any features.

- It removes the ability to fly the sim in without an Internet connection (basically, you get an extra layer of DRM that removes the offline feature).

- It means the developers get less funding (as Steam takes a sizeable share).

So you can probably guess which option I chose! Also, the devs have been quite reliable - I've never had issues in over fifteen years with their launcher.

It adds the ability to do a file verification, whereas the store download has no "file repair" facility built in and requires a complete reinstall if there is an unresolvable issue.

You'd be wrong, running the launcher will repair or replace missing or damaged files as part of it's operational function.

In theory, yes, but if you have a failed update you can find yourself in need of doing a full reinstall to fix it. Sometimes removing the update folder will work, but not always. Steams file verify is much more robust.

Steam has far faster download speeds, at least for me. I don't want to be waiting all day downloading at 2 mb/s on the launcher while I can get over 100 mb/s on Steam.

The Great Battles Launcher was excruciatingly slow.

Not exactly true. You need internet connection for login only, after that you can fly offline
