CzechTexan Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Details of the Karelia battles in 1944 are very vague. Are there any good sources with details? Or maybe some Finlander can help us out with hidden information? For example, "The Panssaridivisioona counterattacked the Soviet spearheads, buying time for the newly arrived 4th Division to get into position and plug a dangerous hole in the line between the left wing of 3rd Brigade and Perkjärvi. The Panssaridivisioona was then withdrawn and moved behind 10th Division to shore up the crumbling defences there." This battle at Perkjarvi seems to have been fairly significant but where are the details as to how it happened? And what is the date? I did find good info about the Battle at Kuuterselka in the Osprey book T-34 vs StuG III by Zaloga.
Juri_JS Posted June 2 Posted June 2 It's difficult to find detailed Information in English. For a general overview of events this book isn't bad: Finland at War: The Continuation and Lapland Wars 1941–45 Later today I will look at the sources I've collected while working on my Kuhlmey campaigns to see if there is anything useful for you.
Juri_JS Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Here is a very interesting forum thread, with a detailed day by day timeline of the continuation war: https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=225175 And a Finnish site with information on some of the battles: https://jput.fi/Jatkosota.htm Unfortunately other links to Finnish sites I've collected over the years no longer work. 1
