1C Game Studios LukeFF Posted May 29 1C Game Studios Posted May 29 Korea. IL-2 Series – a new approach to the HUD for a flight simulator! Flexible settings, 3 layouts with quick switching, smart indicators, and automatic adjustment to the aircraft type. Jade_Monkey Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I love what I'm seeing! Very customizable, and having the three presets you can switch between with a hotkey is a very nice touch. I can see how users might want to adapt to different situations with different presets: Ground: Speed, engine settings, flaps, gear, etc. Cruise: Fuel, Navigation, Speed, etc Combat: Ammo 3 AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | Nvidia RTX 4090 | 32 GB DDR4 | nVME SSD | VR headset: Pimax Dream Air SLAM
Red_Dragon Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I'll probably love it too! But fans of authentic cockpits may want to switch to a second monitor. And if there are already so many assistants for everything in the new aviasim, then why don't we stop using custom products and get devices from developers for the second monitor? 3

You will quite clearly be able to run a clean HUD without any of this, if you wish.
Aapje Posted May 29 Posted May 29 (edited) I love having multiple presets, as well as the option for small and big indicators. Just one tip though, slow down the movie! Everything went way too fast. Edited May 29 by Aapje
LuftManu Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Oh! This looks really good! I remember an old version of deli l2 trying to do this (but failing); here everything is well placed and easy to use! Congratulations! P.S.: The damage model is turning out awesome. So many things ended up getting damaged! 1 1 Rig: RTX 5090 ASUS TUF / Ryzen 9850 X3D /Gigabyte X870E Pro X3D Motherboard / 48 GB DDR5 Teamgroup 8000 MT/s / MSI 321 URX QD-OLED 32" 4K

I'm not sure what the issue is. As they indicated in the Dev Blog, you can configure the tools whatever way you want. If you don't want to see any HUD tools, you don't display any. As simple as that. There is no requirement for a second monitor or VR set or whatever. 1
Red_Dragon Posted May 29 Posted May 29 (edited) How do you know that I don't need such "HUD " at home? And I think that if I can discuss this somewhere, it's in the HUD topic, not in the cloud rendering topic, right? But for now, I'm havely using gauges on the second monitor.. Not everyone likes VR Edited May 29 by Red_Dragon

Not everyone likes VR What is it even that you want to discuss? I'm just puzzled by your posts, and it appears I'm not the only one. This Dev Blog doesn't concern either second monitors, VR or external gauges. Is there some question you want to ask or some desire you want to express? Because right now it isn't really clear what your point is. 1

Is there some question you want to ask or some desire you want to express? Because right now it isn't really clear what your point is. At first, it seemed to me that my thought was obvious. I definitely want the ability to display gauges on the second monitor using standard official methods, and not just external programs such as (amazing by the way) IL 2 Dials. Secondly, the misunderstanding of what HUD has to do with it is obviously related only to stereotypes and patterns. I didn't want to refer to such an example, but in one aviasim, I can put the gauges even in the middle of the monitor Скрытый текст By the way, these gauges are not fully configured yet. , so this is also a Head Up Display, no matter what you think about it. And yes, I would like to be able to move STANDARD instruments from the cockpit to any location on the second monitor or maybe even on the first one. But not a digital or inauthentic HUD representation. Edited May 29 by Red_Dragon
JG27*PapaFIy Posted May 30 Posted May 30 I like the customizable display! HUD is a misnomer though. This is an HDD, a head-down display, since you have to stare down at the lower edge of the screen to read them. Having options for an actual HUD, with at a few critical displays close to the screen center would be great, too.
Aapje Posted May 30 Posted May 30 @JG27*PapaFIy It's debatable, since it is in the main field of view and is overlayed on top of the view to the outside world, so I would say that is still close enough. @Red_Dragon But I definitely don't think that dials on a secondary display count as a HUD. 1
Dash,Polder Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Well thought out, super design, great job guys. This definitely counts as an andancment of the game. Everyone has an option, no one can complain when you gave the ability to limit, customize, or turn it off. I like how one can place instruments exactly on the spot of the horizontal where you want and even space them out with gaps.

Yes / and yes it was obvious / would be great if we could move choices of Hud indications and gauges to a separate side monitor and also the knee pad map so you could have all this info on a side monitor and have nothing overlayed on the main screen of your cockpit and your flight view , it would remain on side monitor , and you would just need a quick glance to the side for needed info that's not Infront of you on the main screen. ---- if you so choose , 1
Dash,Polder Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Be curious if the new map will also have expanded features and more customization, talking the full size main map. Something like resizable, depth adjustment, and a brightness slider right on the map for day and night flying, maybe color contrast to make the terrain features easier to see.
Red_Dragon Posted May 30 Posted May 30 8 часов назад, Aapje сказал: But I definitely don't think that dials on a secondary display count as a HUD. But what is presented in the news is called HUD, it's a convention. In many games, additional information is displayed on the monitor, and not everywhere it is called HUD. In addition, I believe that since the developers are striving for more flexibility in settings, this arcade HUD could be expanded with additional options. Firstly, to give the option of "real" gauges instead of "arcade" ones, and secondly, more flexibility in choosing the location both on the main monitor and on the additional one. By the way, IL2 Dials works even on smartphones and it's an amazing option. I guess it was a good idea to take this experience into account in Korea as well. I don’t get why my post sparked indignation—it was just about optionally enhancing the game’s HUD features for those who find it important.
