This is how it has been since 2002: All patches are exactly 'two weeks away'. The amount of time known as 'two weeks' is defined by however long it is until the next release.

On a more serious note - they're clearly making large amounts of progress, but giving a public ETA won't speed things up and might even slow things down...

Sure, but if we made it 1 week, we'd get it sooner.

No... you don't understand my dear Catch... in that case one week would be defined to expand to be whatever amount of time it is until the next patch.

Hmm I see. So we shouldn't focus on eta's or this "two weeks" thing because it's all nonsense. A distraction, a throwaway line, an insincere statement, a facetious insult. I remember a time when a man's word was his bond but perhaps I'm just an old-fashioned gentleman with principles and an eye for the ladies like a Cossack! ⚔️

 No, you're not alone.

If I recall correctly, according to the developers the system they coded does limit that ability of AI to see through clouds (superior to DCS).

But what is this. Hope?

My dear sir - you've insulted the legacy of Oleg Maddox. I demand you retract it immediately or I shall have to challenge you to a duel!

So a couple of things here: (1) I expressed uncertainty

Well, the way I see it, "If I recall correctly" doesn't break Rule 21 as it is not a definitive statement but more a recollection that may be right or wrong. However, to say "I know for sure", for example, without hyperlinks, factual proven data or written statements in the affirmative signed by, say, an upstanding JP or honourable politician, would infringe upon the very meaning of Rule 21, and thus be worthy of moderator intervention such as a warning or removal of unverified material. In life, rules must be obeyed lest we fall into anarchy and dystopian madness where the rule of law is openly questioned or ignored completely.

I prefer to have hope that statements, authentic or not, lead us to an improved AI experience.

In life - I've got doubts: No system of laws is ever perfect and questioning or reforming existing laws has a long tradition.

But on a forum - yes.

But... this is all quite off-topic from clouds now - so I'm going to clean up the thread!

@Catch So are you going to retract what you said about Oleg - or shall we duel? As the challenged you would get to pick the year the fight takes place in - then we'd each get to pick our plane.

This could be quite awesome and entertaining! Suuper fun! If you do, please, please record the hole affair. The place in time best suited for @Catch must be that when honour was still a thing, chivalry and fairly was part of a knight of the air, and the madness of destruction was still in its birth: the WW1.

Yes, it would have to be World War One - The Great War. And recorded for posterity, pay per view.

I'd better practice my victory barrel rolls just to add a cinematic finale.

Of course, I would need assurance that discussing this event does not violate Forum Rule 13 before proceeding.

What year within WWI? I'll give you the choice.

Your victory role will be quite easy when you are missing a wing!

As for Forum Rule 13 - While challenging someone to a duel is illegal in my current jurisdiction, I'm sure the courts would recognise that the lack of genuine threat to life and limb means this is merely a mock duel and we needn't fear prosecution. As a result I see no reason why this is a secret duel, and as it is a public event Rule 13 doesn't apply.

Sure, no genuine threat to life but reputational damage may result to person or persons depending on the outcome of the "mock duel" in which case a defamation trial may be instigated (and possibly a counter defamation) citing "loss of face" negatively affecting the good character, income stream and well-being of the complainant. It could get very ugly and thus prosecution as outlined is a very real possibility. But that's beside the point.

This is more to the point and I am satisfied with your explanation that no rule is broken. Anyway, I shall say no more for fear of violating Forum Rule 6.

Well look, I'm a mid-war era lover, like yourself, so I'd have to go 1916.

Touché. Now that did make me laugh. 😄

Honourable gentlemen.

Taking aside that this possible virtual air duel is in defending the honour of mr Maddox, and not the fairest lady of the realm, it is, none the less, a confrontation bathed in chivalry and bound to show the youngling the true valor.

So, my point is that you should choose time (= place), airplanes (=weapons) and you'll need some witnesses.
