Hi,

I am wondering how does the current sale work for new players, who want link it to steam? (who do not own any IL2 content at all)

Yes, you buy Stalingrad on Steam and the rest on the site.

There is the Steam version and there is the web store version.

Steam: You must own Battle of Stalingrad on Steam. After that, it doesn't matter if you buy additional content on Steam or here at the web store, as long as your accounts are linked. All of it will be useable in the Steam version. However, if you choose to also install the web store launcher, your Steam content will not appear in the web store version of the game.

Web store version: You can skip Battle of Stalingrad if you want. For example, you really like World War One or you just want to drive tanks? You can buy only the Flying Circus modules or Tank Crew. However, the web store version does not recognize Steam DLC.

The web store launcher is slightly easier to manage because you can choose some settings from the front-end UI before you launch the game.

One annoying limitation to note is that if you have Battle of Stalingrad on Steam, and any DLC from Steam, and if your Steam account is linked to the web store, you can't buy the same content again for your web store launcher version of the game. (I have both versions installed, although I usually play the Steam version.)

I was wondering about this today, good to know.  I've had the Steam version for years, but was thinking about switching to the stand alone version.
