Enceladus828 Posted April 20 Posted April 20 We're no doubt a long ways out from ever covering WW1 in the Korea engine and will probably be done by a 3rd party team as it was with Flying Circus. That said here is my proposal for how a WW1 series could possibly materialize in this game engine. The best starting point would be the Italian Front from 1916-18, something that has never been done before but is definitely worth trying. At this point we need something new beyond a few planes that weren't in Rise of Flight: it doesn't make sense for there to be another copy and paste of that game. The frontline from May 1915 to October 1917 along the Isonzo River was mostly static with incremental gains by the Italian Army during the 12 battles. After Erwin Rommel's victory at Caporetto the frontline remained static along the Piave River from November 1918 until the Austro-Hungarian Empire capitulated in November 1918. We'd have aircraft like the Sopwith Camel, R.E.8, SPADs, Hanriot and Nieuports and some unique aircraft like the Caproni Ca.3 three engine bombers, Ansaldos, and Macchi M5 flying boat. For the Central Powers we could also see the Albatross D.III Oeffag, Aviatik C.I, Hansa Brandenburg C.I and some others. It would also make sense to throw in a small Arras or Verdun sector map and include some planes like the Pfalz D.III and Albatross D.Va for players over on the Western Front and for some what-ifs. Lastly, a map similar to what Avimimus proposed here would work After the Italian Front would be the Eastern Front. The first part would be a Galicia map to cover the end of The Great Retreat in the summer of 1915, the disastrous Brusilov Offensive in 1916 followed by the Kerensky Offensive in 1917. The second part would be a map of Romania to cover their ill-timed and ill-equipped entry into the war during the Brusilov Offensive until their initial defeat in 1917. Along with the Nieuports, Morane Bullet, Vickers F.B. 19 and SPAD VII, we'd also have the Sikorsky S-16 and the famous Ilya Muromets/Sikorsky S-22. Another option could be a 1915-16 Western Front map to depict the Fokker Scourge with the BE2, Vickers F.B.5, Caudron G.IV, DH.2, Aviatik C.I, and the Fokker E.III Eindecker. Following this there could be the Balkans from 1917-18 or the Sinai-Palestine Front, depending on which one saw more aerial action. Finally, it would conclude with the Channel Map and a complete Western Front map along with the rest of the Flying Circus aircraft. Cheers! 2 1 1 Matthew 6:21, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
