50cal Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Hi, I'm currently using Quest meta-3 VR headset on a stacked rig and wondering if upgrading to a PIMAX brand will make a difference. Which model do you recommend and why. My biggest beef is plane recognition at a distance.
spreckair Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Your biggest beef is mine too. I have the Pimax Crystal Light, and it does not solve the plane recognition at a distance issue, although I am still enjoying it very much after replacing a HP Reverb G2. I hope we can hear from those who are using the Pimax Crystal Super on this specific issue.

Hi, I fly with quest3 too and i am very happy with the spotting distance ( enemy of better is best of course... ). I am not convinced that it would make a great difference ( wow effect ) if i would go from quest 3 to pimax crystal. Due to plane pixel size in that simulator ( il2) which is essential to spot the plane at a distance , you cannot go for very high resolutions to get a better plane identification and eye candy image. So I think it's a matter of compromisation between plane spotting ( not very high resolutions to achieve quite big plane pixel size ) and plane identification on the other side ( quite high resolutions to achieve better plane external drawings). For me resolutions about 3000 , at 72 hz with openxr toolkit and CAS sharpening at about 80-90% work just fine. I have rtx 3090 ti and intel 13900 a little ovelclocked. I think going from quest3 to pimax crystal should make me force to upgrade graphics card due to worse distortion effect of crystal compaired to quest3, giving a lot of money with not such a better image.. dgiatr Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I fly exclusively multiplayer so being competitive is more important to me than the best eye candy image can have.. 1
