FuriousMeow Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 AI has to be local to the host. The only way it can be computed over a distributed system would be over a high speed LAN. The latencies with the internet would result in an even worse AI, especially for a real time game. And, yeah, the AI are just bots - that's the extent of "AI" in all games.
Avimimus Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 I suspect the bottlenecks from latency and netcode could be more of an issue. I could see possibly adding an additional card to the server host to allow more parallel processing though? Same thing with physics? That might make more sense. There are still limits though, as information about what is happening on the host still has to be transmitted to the clients.
