Dash,Polder Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Lot of good stuff discussed, was worth the watch. It's smart how they've planned on combining the player pool for the simplified gang vs the hard core and the approach on how they've developed the tools to get this accomplished. Hope it succeeds, our hobby really needs numbers pushed up, numbers always attract more, perpetual self feeding after that. That brings more and better toys for us all. Also the new camera views discussed I haven't seen anywhere else. Go pro mode and the remote cam you can set on a route should be really novel. Assign a camera man to the convoy your going to strike.

Hi Luke - Has there been any final decision about whether the Founder's Edition will provide a Steam Key or Link where we wouldn't have to rebuy if we decide to play through Steam? Thank you!

Thank you! Unfortunately, such a distribution scheme is not supported by the Steam platform's available functionality. In the past, we attempted to implement a similar scheme to make things easier for our users, but the result was unstable. Therefore, this is not planned for Korea. You should be able to add it to your Steam library, however. 1

Will the game be updated via Steam? Will I launch it through Steam? (I already have the Founders Edition from the website). Thank you.

brickcommander Posted May 19 Posted May 19 I reached out to support last week about upgrading to founders edition. So far no response. Has anyone done so? How long did it take to hear back?

Btw, why would they make the distinction in the roadmap between spring and quarter 2 if there were 10 days difference in them? From less than 2 months from the end of Q2, there should be an exact release date. I don't know where you are from. But in my country the astronomical seasons are the ones we consider "official".

In my country usage of the meteorological seasons is the more common although the seasons are reversed from those who reside in the NH. So, like, it's starting to get chilly here coming into Winter on June 1. But really, this is an academic argument of no great importance apart from those who think it is. What is important however is when is the thing gonna be released? I don't want a meteo vs astro definition. I want a date!

I live in the EU, and the administrative periods start in the first day of the given months, not in the 21th or so. In branches where the seasons are taken into account (agriculture, tourism etc) the seasons are defined as the meteorological. But it is very strange to give a deadline or timeframe in seasonal terms in business context... Also, now the roadmap states release in Q2. The pre order customers were promised to get early access, and now the timeframe for EA is getting thin. The closed beta started 3 months ago, so the pre orderers not accepted into it (including myself) may feel left out for too long. Edited May 20 by Xtremist 3
Woody Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Shame it's only the standard version going on steam, I would of purchased the Founders Edition. But if that's the downside of purchasing the steam version. It's worth it to me. 2

I live in an EU country as well, and I'm used to seasons in the astronomical sense of the word, i.e. beginning on the 21st. Business quartiles correspond to the 1st of a month, but seasons in common parlance do not. In any case, there's no reason to assume one or the other. There is no reason why the release should correspond exactly to the beginning of a business quartile. It's not the case for other game releases and it's likely not the case here. Since it's not clear which of the two options they meant, I recommend expecting Korea to be released before 21 June, lest you be disappointed.

It doesn't make sense to have something in the Founders Edition that Steam users can't access. Time will tell how they market this on Steam. 2
YoYo Posted May 20 Posted May 20 There is no shame in this and honestly, it's a very good decision 👍👍👍. Steam takes a significant portion of the profit, and believe me, we're not talking about 5 or 10%; it's much more. If you want to support the project and developers in this secondary and niche market, support them directly on the website. I don't own and have never purchased a single simulator on Steam (FSX, P3D, IL2, DCS ect). I value this market too highly. In my opinion, it's a shame to buy simulators on Steam. There are also many downsides – updates at different times (sometimes they do), sometimes odd prices, and a lack of all the features or new features, addons ect or appearing with delay. Good decision. I bought the Founders Edition myself, and it's the best, most cost-effective option. Keep in mind that each of those five planes will cost $20 or more, plus the aircraft carrier separately. That's a lot of money saved. If you don't want to save money, buy it on Steam. I can't afford it. 😅 2 1 Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.

That blows the early access theory out of the water. But than the ambiguity of it all leaves plenty of wiggle room, they never defined what was early access too, or how it would actually work. Could say the five coming new planes will constitute the early access for all we know. But certainly by Christmas. 1
GiftGruen Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Mhm. To be honest I always was a steam buyer, just for personal lazyness. While I like the convinient access to gaming world via Steam - and therefore think that it’s okay that they earn some money with this service - I will think twice in future, regarding IL2 which is rather a niche game. Founders edition I also bought at the website. 1

I prefer that way, because I support the developers, but I also fly in VR and I hate Steam VR, which breaks or imposes some settings. Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.
