Since this topic didn't exist before, I'm going to create one myself.

But I'll start it not with a skin link, but instead with a request: could someone take the basic Yak-1B camo and make a 3rd IAK one?

The "winged star" decal is already present on an in-game Yak-9T skin, and the number can be left out to be customizable. All that's needed really is to paint the top of the fin white and put the star where it's needed.

Thanks in advance and feel free to use this topic for posting any other Yak-1B skins if you have any.

Here, I whipped up two generic 3 IAK schemes. One from 15 IAP with just the white fin cap and the other from 43 IAP with the a red and white spinner in addition to the white fin cap.

Why is the hammer and sickle symbolism on your skins not correctly mirrored?

You should ask that to the profile artist...

Likely that they only made one stencil and used it on both sides of their aircraft

Вероятно, они изготовили только один трафарет и использовали его на обеих сторонах своего самолета.

Нет.

@Devil5O5 could I also ask you for a later 43 IAP skin?

White tail top, tail number position having a dark-grey background, and a white-winged red Star with an outline. Might be a bit much to ask, but I think it'd be a nice option for later scenarios (even if flown outside of the 3rd Belarusian front, i.e. 1944 Odessa/Leningrad)

For some reason (or lack thereof) I feel a bit bad when "flying" a specific ace's plane. Especially if it's one known for spotless record (never hit or never shot down).

And then there I am in "his" machine shot up like an average Texan's barn wall leaking every fluid possible, both technical and body.

Sure. I'll be happy to. Give me a few days since I don't have the late camouflage pattern already.

You would be amazed how often in reality the regular aircraft used by an ace was lost when another pilot was flying it. And there are even cases where an ace's regular plane is handed down to another pilot to be his regular plane.

Like the Hartmann's earlier Gustav?

The first to come to mind is Kozhedub's La-5FN "White 14", handed down to Yevstigneyev and then to another ace.

No need to rush it, the most important thing is to do it for your own pleasure

Here's another idea for anyone willing, stumbled upon it while browsing through more obscure regiments and photos:

774th IAP, 282nd IAD. Distinctive mark: a white arrow similar to that of 303rd IAD, some schemes add to that a red nose.

In the scheme the arrow's tail is a bit longer than another plane's (number 24, 2nd photo under the spoiler), using the star's right side as a point of reference. No.9's arrow goes quite a bit further back and starts under the pilot's sights, while No.24's arrow ends almost immediately under the star's "wing" and starts closer to the engine, under the first upper cowling.

In my opinion, combining the No.9's nose (just for some visual flair) with the No.24's arrow could provide a nice base for a skin with changeable number.
