Buffo002 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I want to ask if I figure out how to create a Scripted Campaign for IL-2 GB, I just want to ask in advance is there a limited number of missions or is there an arbitrary number, I mean a lot (50, 80, 100, 150, 200 and more, in IL-2 1946 I tried some and edited them, but the most work and campaigns I did in IL-2 CoD were Campaign JG-26 (247 missions) (and even after the release of the new expansion pack I will continue the channel from 1940 - 1944), then next was Africa JG-27 campaign (101 missions), then there was also the Eastern Front, but it was a fictitious map and even planes, but someone didn't mind Campaign Kirkenes and Petsamo (200 missions), also an attempt at a night fighter JU-88 Campaign 60 missions to download - Ju-88 night fighters from I./NJG 2 and some other unfinished or attempts. https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/124-single-player/ Is there simply an unlimited number of missions for the Scripted Campaign? I would like to create a similar campaign of Operation Barbarossa (which was for IL-2 1946) for IL-2 GB from the JG 52 fighter group. Smolensk can be replaced by a combination of 2 maps Novosokolniki (as if before Smolensk) and then use the Velikie Luki map (as the city of Smolensk) that's the problem that I'm just starting the campaign near Smolensk. But the biggest problem will be Crimea ... there I'll try the interior like the map of Belgium and Holland and There are also missions near Kerch and we have that in Kuban. So it will be an experiment, just understand the editor here and it will be fine. Especially some file where the order of the missions is how they should go one after the other. But maps like, Kuban, Moscow, Prokhorovka, Stalingrad are here, most would be historically correct maps. 😇
Billsponge1972 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 As I understand it, it is unlimited. The highest I know of is around 75. 1
sandmarken Posted March 12 Posted March 12 If you are going to make a campaign from scratch, 75 missions would be a life project! When I make a campaign of 10-ish missions, it usually takes around 1 week for every mission. And there is also a lot of time spent on upfront research and testing to make sure everything will work out as intended. If you make generated missions and put them in a row in a scripted campaign, of course, things can be done faster.

Well, when I entered this editor, I was horrified at how unnecessarily complicated it is and it's a shame. For example, the editor in IL-2 CoD is for idiots. You can create very quickly there. It's a great shame that the editor here is so complicated. 😞 1

kraut1 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 (edited) Alternative workflow for mission generation: -I am using in general EMG by Vander for mission generation, mostly self modified versions that are adapted to specific theatres of wars with additional semi historic front lines. -To make the fresh generated missions interesting even for me, I use always as many as possible of the in EMG available random functions (time of day, wind, enemy plane types, enemy airfield, AI ambient planes. -I have modified the AI ambient plane function with an additional random of ca. 60% if the AI ambient plane is spawaned (activated) or not. This means each time the mission is started there may be variations. For me it takes ca. 20...30 minutes to generate, test, modify a campaign mission: 1) usage of a Excel table with random numbers to define the main mission parameters (with a table for certain theatres of wars / campaign types: e.g: -mission type: scramble mission, ground attack, intercept mission, patrol mission,... -sometimes if not random Clouds, wind -player function depending on rank: flight leader, section leader, wingman no.2 -front sector -number of planes in player's flight -and further parameters... Spoiler Example of my current Odessa III./JG77 campaign part (sorry in german), random number in the second col. from left. 2) Start of EMG and adjusting the parameters decided by the random excel table + additional random effects: Spoiler 3) The mission is generated in a mission-test-folder, short test of ca. 30 seconds: mission loaded and started to see if the main parameters are correct and if there is daylight. 4) Short mission editing, ca. 5...10 minutes: adjusting the time (if it is too early / too late , no daylight), reducing of clouds if required, installation of my Audio Warnings by wingmen and my ground observer / radar enemy grid audio messages. 5) Mission is copied into the campaign folder. This is now the next mission in my actual campaign that I will fly now just for fun. (we should never forget that flying with IL-2 Great Battles is our hobby😁) 6) Start of IL-2 Campaign Tracker and service Record by @Arrow_1974 7) Start of IL-2 Great Battles and flight of the campaign mission. 8 ) After IL-2 Great is closed viewing the Logbook with the updated pilot status and the added mission data 9) If I encounter major mission design issues during the flight I would remove the mission from the to be published missions. Note: The mission generation takes not much time for me, but the adaption / modification of EMG and the creation of additional Mods means very much work for me too.. Edited March 13 by kraut1 1
Buffo002 Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 The problem is the language. Although IL-2 1946 was in English, I understood it quickly, and IL-2 CoD is similar, except there are also complicated time settings, etc., but campaigns can be done in a simple way (but the AI in the game must be good). And when there is a significantly more complicated editor here and in a language I don't know (I use a translator to write in forums), it is almost impossible or very slow. But I found instructions in my language, CZ, so I'm not giving up. We'll see... 🙂 1
