AndreiTomescu Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Oh, oh, OH! Sorry! Mentioning 3 yrs of war, I thought....Ukraine. So, skip the neighbouring aspect and heartly keep the colleague one.
brickcommander Posted April 19 Posted April 19 No neighbor then, but colleague and hopefully friend! ย Mt family actually came from the Odessa region, but left already by 1912. One of my dreams is to visit. ย As somebody who is experiencing war, maybe you can understand. I wanted to set up the simpit in the bomb shelter to I can fire rockets while having rockets fired at me. My wife put that at a hard "no" becaus the kids sleep there!
AndreiTomescu Posted April 21 Posted April 21 So, finally got my curved screen. Managed to damage it a bit from start: the lightning and colours being quite dull compared to my previous asus, I've tried to peel off the protective sheet. which was actually the outer skin of the screen.....stupid me. Even asked the AI about this before and......it was just as stupid as myself. Anyhow, the curvature is pleasant, but not game changer, the wider screen is really great, and the colours and contrast, even after tweaking, calibration, etc, are less appealing compared to the previous (and more expensive!) one. Spotting is overall quite better. If I could only get rid of this greenish overall tint... 1
Catch Posted April 21 Posted April 21 The closet is looking great Andrei.ย ๐ 2 hours ago, AndreiTomescu said: I've tried to peel off the protective sheet. which was actually the outer skin of the screen.....stupid me. Aapje Posted April 21 Posted April 21 3 hours ago, AndreiTomescu said: the lightning and colours being quite dull compared to my previous asus Perhaps the new screen has a matte coating while the old one was glossy. Glossy is better if you can prevent the sun from shining on the screen.
AndreiTomescu Posted April 21 Posted April 21 3 hours ago, Aapje said: new screen has a matte coating yep, only for the upper right corner the correct tense is ...HAD...ย ๐ฅ strange, it was not just a matte coating, as where i forcebly and stupidly removed it, there is a glossy, clear surface showing just.....white. as i put back the piece i've removed, the image was back over there, but clearly duck-ed up. (=f...-up). the broken corner is very small, actually doesn't matter that much, but it constantly reminds me of my rushed and stupid action. for me/my job doing such thing is impardonable, i have 20+ yrs of training into NOT acting without thinking. dunno how i could do it. actually, i asked Claude first, sent pictures, all, ant itreinforced the idea of removing that layer. Buh....stupid....
AndreiTomescu Posted April 21 Posted April 21 on a different note, notice the white bench i'm using. it fit inside, as with the doors closed everything is.....in the closet! Made it myself, very proud of it. Also for extra buttons/slider attached to the virpil stick /base, i used the base of an old logitech. this way the hole piece is heavy enough as not to jump from the table when i pull hard on the stick, since i've filled the logitech case with some lead balls. Not actually mine. ๐ย
GrumpyGnome Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Was wondering about that base. Nice Intelligent use of old hardware.ย ๐ย

Have to find a solution for a pliable/retractable backrest, so as to still fit in the (now famous ๐ย ) closet. something like a lid over the existing cushioned one,ย with very strong hinges

Prior to buying tye boeing rig 2 weeks ago, i flew sitting on the guest ved with a hotas on my lap. My back was less than pleased.
