YoYo Posted March 7 Posted March 7 (edited) A question for the beta testers. There a is a one key in the controls cameras to show our external model to the nearest air enemy and different button for own plane (external view) to the nearest ground enemy? That is exactly what we have in DCS, for example. Edited Monday at 07:04 PM by YoYo Changed the title topic Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. Aapje Posted March 7 Posted March 7 I think that the testers had to sign an NDA, so then they probably can't answer questions like these. 1

Well, that might be a response from the developer. If it's not there, then of course it's an #idea. 👍 Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.

I always felt it tempted me to cheat. 🙂 IMHO, a higher priority - for me - would be bringing back the Il-2 1946 padlock. It had the best padlock in a simulation (dead-zoned near the gunsight, also seemed easier to keep orientation/attitude than in Great Battles). It should definitely be looked at. 1
YoYo Posted April 19 Author Posted April 19 (edited) I'm still waiting for that simple button and confrmation that it will be in IL-2 Korea (nearest air + ground enemy). Here is a simple example from DCS. You don't aim this way (that's only done from the pilot's seat, after all). The cheat is actually the padlock, which immediately directs the player towards the enemy. You can't aim in external view; it's only for situational awareness. However, if external view is disabled (due to server limitations, for example or user settings), it won't work (e.g., Combat Box server), so don't worry. I'd say it's more of a cheat that the AI will never lose sight of you, even in the clouds. Have you ever experienced a situation where, in zero visibility in the clouds, the AI would shoot at you without even seeing you? 😅 Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. It would probably be the biggest fix for the AI if they had realistic situational awareness variation (and scanning limits). 4
YoYo Posted Monday at 06:05 PM Author Posted Monday at 06:05 PM @LukeFF or @Avimimus Please move this topic to suggestions. I added it a while ago, but there's no such implementation in IL-2 Korea. Thank you. Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.
YoYo Posted Monday at 06:45 PM Author Posted Monday at 06:45 PM (edited) I'd like to return to the topic about "external padlock". Is there an option to add such views? I'm talking about the Combat camera. The external view from our plane to the nearest threats. For example (those keys are free): Alt+F8 - the view switches to the external view and indicates the nearest enemy plane, pressing again switches to the next one, etc. The opponent is in the center of the screen. Alt+F7 - the view switches to the external view and indicates the nearest enemy ground vehicle, pressing again switches to the next one, etc. The opponent is in the center of the screen. Logic should also be maintained - when external views are blocked (by the server for example), this option does not work. Husar Posted Monday at 09:51 PM Posted Monday at 09:51 PM There was a combat camera in IL-2 Great Battles that was useful for spectating players dueling in the external view. It's still there on Berloga or get blocked with padlock views?
YoYo Posted yesterday at 08:46 AM Author Posted yesterday at 08:46 AM (edited) Yes, it's possible, but it requires some fiddling with a certain key combination, which is completely unnecessary. There are no direct shortcuts like in DCS for ground and air targets. I've created something like that myself (using the script on my HOTAS), but it doesn't work perfectly and this is just a workaround (see below). An example of how a combat camera might work in an external view. We'd like to request that this feature be added separately for air and ground targets. As you can see, I can directly switch to the external view and assess the enemy's location. I can also switch between them using the same key combination. This allows you to better assess the enemy's position: There should of course be separate keys for air and ground opponents.
