JollyJack Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) Got interested again since i got an X box controller, in my case a Thrustmaster wired Eswap X2. I think you wont (anymore?) need Xinput, (https://www.softpedia.com/get/Gaming-Related/XInput-Plus.shtml) as the Eswap hardware is recognized in 7.002. I found a list of control routings somewhere, any one has experienced an Xbox with TC? ----------------------------------------------------- Key Commands for IL-2 Tank Crew on Xbox - Basic Controls Action Xbox Controller Button Start Engine A Move Forward Right Stick Up Move Backward Right Stick Down Turn Left Left Stick Left Turn Right Left Stick Right Fire Turret Guns Right Trigger Switch Ammunition Y Open/Close Hatch B Switch to Gunner Position X Zoom In/Out Right Stick Click Advanced Controls Action Xbox Controller Button Adjust Gunsight Vertically D-Pad Up/Down Adjust Gunsight Horizontally D-Pad Left/Right Set Turret to Stowed Position Start Button Control Turret Right Stick Movement Tips for Configuration Ensure your Xbox controller is properly connected and recognized by the game. You may need to customize the button layout in the game settings for optimal control. Consider using third-party software if you encounter issues with button mapping. These commands will help you effectively operate tanks in IL-2 Tank Crew, enhancing your gameplay experience. ADDED feb 20: The above seems not ideal, and i am experimenting still with other settings. PS found this, might be of interest for VR too: https://airgoons.com/w/IL-2_Tank_Crew_Basics_for_Goons#Step_1:_Set_your_Tank_Turret_Control_to_Joystick Edited February 20 by JollyJack
Panzerkatze Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I have always been using HOTAS without any external software in tanks, at every sim I've driven them. Means, WarBirds, Aces High and here. Thrustmasters T.Flight HOTAS X was more than enough for tanking, but when it gave up the ghost, I purchased T.16000M with TWCS throttle.
JollyJack Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 (edited) yep, got a warthog set years ago, but i was interested in a simpler system for tank crew .. I now have been messing with a thrustmaster eswap X2 xbox controller. The buttons work fine in IL2, but IL2 does not recognize the axis controller sticks. It seems you need some joystick mapper for that like InputMapper 1.7 or JoyToKey, but mapping an axis to another axis (ID3 to ID 2) seems impossible? Just found this: https://controllerbuddy.org/ Seems you'll need vJoy. PS the Eswap X2 works fine in DCS however. ADDED june 5th 2026: i now found you need to completely uninstall the Eswap Thrustmaster X software, also from WindowsApps, and calibrate the unit with Windows' USB Game Controllers. this software screws up a lot in windows like my Thhrottle's Slew controller.
