Haluter's Skin Downloader comes up great occasionally. However, 90% of the time I get "HSD is unable to connect to the server, please try again later". I have disconnected my VPN & run as adminstrator, but still can not connect. I deleted the whole system, but HSD still didn't connect. Last time HSD wasn't able to connect, it was 5 days before it connected again. I used it for 2 days & now it won't connect again. Any thoughts?

My understanding is Haluters was down this past weekend. It still has an error showing.  We will have to try again later.

It seems the website which hosted the download for HSD is down, any idea where to get it now?

The old HSD system will be retired on 17 May 2026.

The current version of HSD is now split into two parts:

HSD Online
A fast web catalogue for browsing skins, searching, filtering, bookmarking, managing collections, uploading new work, and handling curation.

HSD Sync
A small local tool that subscribes to collections and keeps your IL-2 skins folder updated automatically, without needing the full catalogue cached on your PC.

That evolution has made HSD faster, lighter, and much better suited to the scale the community has now reached.

15,000 skins is not just a number. It represents years of work by skin artists, squadron leaders, curators, testers, supporters, and everyone who has uploaded, downloaded, reported issues, shared feedback, or helped another pilot get set up.
