Tried the demo, but it's not my type of tank game. I guess the perfect tank game for me would be GHPC but with ww2 tanks.

this is more a Tactical Game, GHPC with WW2 Tanks would be a dream 🙂

I had hope with Call to Arms:Panzer Elite but it turned out arcadey. The penetration mechanics are skewed toward balance for gameplay purposes, and damage model in general looks like something from WoT

What really annoys me about recent tank games is that the developers struggle to create realistic landscapes. It always feels like you're playing in a miniature version of the world, and distances feel far too short. Tank Squad is a good example for this issue. GHPC is significantly better in this regard because the developers work with real topographical data. There, you can actually use the terrain as cover and for realistic tactics like reverse slope defence or as hull down position.

Well, it's not planes, nor tanks, but the Sniper Elite series (which i enjoyed tremendously, especially Italy) got a new title, based on the previous one (France). It's called Resistance and despite mixed reviews I don't think i can miss it.

Add-on: bought and played the first campaign mission. It's very good typical Sniper Elite style. Really worth it.

My mental setup is that i'm a Mosquito downed flight sergeant, my navigator got killed in the crash. Unable to return to the base/Great Battles 🙂 , i'm stuck here in occupied France, helping the Resistance.

First mission implied destroying some flak guns protecting a dam, so I've carved a way for the Lancasters to be dambusters!

So, I've got some 4 engine planes work somehow!

Following Seas

is a game about ships and the sea. Transport cargo, fish, and fight the weather in an unforgiving open world. Featuring elements of realistic ship management, you can use the stars to navigate, batten the hatches, and get lost beyond the edges of the map.

I've uploaded some workshop content for Tank Squad. I enjoy the game, but it still needs work.

Also, a remaster of Theatre of War is on the way. The playtest was great if not a little buggy.

Yeah I did, it's similar to destroyer the uboat hunter in some ways. It's nicely done, the gamplay is satisfying enough and the graphics are good. It's early access so there's still someway to go but the provided scenarios are engrossing and point to a good degree of complexity eventually. I don't regret the 20 quid it cost.

I'm enjoying BC for what it is which is likely due to being gifted it, but a lot of the pre-release chatter from streamers and the developer himself made direct comparisons to the SH series and its influences on this game. The problem is that those influences are only skin deep as it utterly lacks the ambience and features of a game (SH3) that's two decades old.

• Little to no ambient crew chatter or sound effects.

• Few accessible stations (magazine, propulsion etc.) outside of gunnery.

• No voiced order confirmations (e.g. speed/course changes), callouts of targets, targets destroyed, etc.).

• No whitewater (sea foam/hull wake) around the hull of the ship as it moves through the water at speed. How is this missing?

• No action stations/general quarters conditions. Guess everyone is on duty in a combat footing twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, for an entire patrol...

These are just a handful of the issues I have with the game, and they're not covered in the extremely limited scope of a roadmap. A few of which, like crew voices and additional stations, have been confirmed as not going to be included.

Outside the above is the fact that everything is low-poly. I get that it's a complex model and all but being able to visually count the tri's and vert's on nearly every component (hatches, railing, portholes, etc.) is jarring considering that you're limited to where you can go on the ship. Now, I can understand this for some of the externals, but this especially goes for the likes of gauges, dials, knobs, and even the viewfinders for the few stations you can actually interact with. Then there are texture issues with mapping errors and low-res issues that abound. I'll leave it that.

It isn't a bad game by any means, just merely okay. It's just that it's missing so many of the core features and ambience of other similar games that it feels very half-baked.

All valid but it is still early access so perhaps understandable that some core features and QOL ambience aren’t in place yet and so seems half baked.
