CommissarDoggo Posted February 1 Posted February 1 Meet Vasily Tchernenko, and the only plane (so far) that has tried desperately to kill me, the MiG-3 Ser. 24! Despite its vicious attempts on my life on take-off (better at it now) and landing (spinning's a cool trick), when it's in the air it's a dream to fly, so after getting used to it a bit I decided to make a skin for it. I tried to maintain historical accuracy in terms of paints used, using this as a source, but it's not based on anything in particular, more just a couple of the planes I saw dotted around online. As an aside, any sources for personal camouflage schemes on Soviet planes during WW2 would be lovely. I was thinking of adding the pilot's name under the canopy, but it looked a bit... Out of place? I might end up removing the paint on the cowling and limiting it to the spinner, it feels a bit much currently but I still want something interesting, gunna think on it. Still don't know much about making my own camouflage schemes, but I used AKAN 383 (from source, no clue on the name of the historical match) with a soft brush around the black areas to try and blend the green and black together. 6
