Not mentioned even as a possible equipment in 1945 (unlike RPK), let alone 1944.

Ok then Off with the suction venturi and give me back 1 Kmh IAS  🙂

You know the Venturi tube is also used for bank indicator, right?

A quote from La-7's technical manual:

Is anyone else having the issue of getting a "firing on friendly" penalty when attacking ground forces e.g. cannons, AA emplacements, airfield fuel tanks etc? I have three times received this notice on the Leningrad (Defense) map in career mode. Despite this the after-action report map shows the 'friendly' I fired on was enemy leFH 18 artillery.

Otherwise I am thoroughly enjoying the new map

The Venturi tube in La-5 is placed to the left of the propeller, right in the nose.

You can see it in Il-2 using a free camera and coming really close to the nose, it's properly modelled.

@LLv44_Kanttori and @zeus--: Thank you very much for the great map!

This week SYN_Vander has published the first implementation of the Karelia map in his great EMG v94:
https://sites.google.com/view/il2-great-battles-emg/home

And additionally for EMG v94 I have released the settings (draft, but already working) for a full semi historic 1943 static front from Vyborg to Leningrad for quick and simple semi historic mission generation:

Would it be possible for the developers to add some "generic" Finnish skins for the Bf 109s that saw service?  Currently there are three named Finnish skins, one each for the G2, G6 and G6 Late, and one Luftwaffe skin for a G2 that served in Finland.  Something along the lines of the generic Finnish skins we currently have for the Hurricane and I-153, would be great.  It is kind of silly to have an entire flight of G2s all piloted by Riihallio.

@LukeFF Quick question: Is there a reason why the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (and its higher grades) has been excluded from being awarded for those 3 new theaters of action?

That should be fixed in the next update.

@LukeFF

Hi Luke,

I noticed a small issue while playing through a career.

I completed the entire Leningrad 1941 career campaign and then continued the same pilot career into Battle of Moscow. The promotion dates now overlap between the two campaigns.

For example:

  • Promotion to Rank 3 – 10 Nov 1941 (Battle of Leningrad 1941)

  • Promotion to Rank 4 – 5 Nov 1941 (Battle of Moscow)

This results in the later promotion occurring six days earlier than the previous one.

Would it be possible to address this in a future update so that events remain chronologically consistent when a career continues across multiple campaigns? One possible approach could be to ensure that the next theatre of operations only begins after the final date of the previous campaign, preventing any missions or events in the new campaign from occurring earlier than the last recorded date of the preceding one.

Thanks,

Alex

Anything with career stuff for Leningrad and Odessa is still deeply a work in progress, so the team will look into this in the future.

By using the Odessa map expansion mod an "improvised airfield" could be designed in the marked area and used for air support for Odessa until ca. 30st August 41.
This improvised airfield would be not historical but the area was at least not occupied by the Germans until 1st September as far as I know...

Hi Luke,

If the team is planning to look into career-related topics, there is an additional issue worth addressing. It is not specific to Leningrad or Odessa, but affects all career theatres.

IL-2 GB often updates the detailed kill sub-counters in the cp.db (e.g., killLightFighter, killMediumBomber) without consistently updating the corresponding parent rollup fields (killLightPlane, killMediumPlane, killHeavyPlane).

As a result, the aggregated totals in the squadron statistics table become inconsistent. This can also lead to AI pilots not receiving awards they would otherwise qualify for, since the award logic appears to rely on the rollup values.

It would be great if this synchronization between detailed and aggregated counters could be ensured.
