War in the Channel 2.0 (Hurricane MkII)

Note: This is an overhaul of one of my first campaigns. All missions have been edited and upgraded, some missions are new. 

 

This campagin follows No 615 Squadron as they moved from Scotland to Manston airfield in September of 1941. When here No 615 squadron did amongst others air defence missions, strikes against german targets in the channel and sweeps in France.   

Many of the missions are based on the squadron logs from 615, weather reports from the time, and other historical sources I could find.

I have borrowed skins from DavviZ and Jeeves so great thx to them! 

There will be hud messages, do not hide it! 

And as usually i have to say thank you to @AndreiTomescufor testing, and @Jaegermeister for giving me advice about mission making!

I played the first version of this campaign and it was great, I'm looking forward to this one. In general, I think we don't have enough campaigns over the Channel yet. Don´t you consider a Channel campaign for the Spitfire V (1941-1942 years) as well?

I have many ideas. 😄 Something involving the Dieppe Raid is definitely one of them. I was hoping we would see a Spitfire IX with the Merlin 61 as a collector for this kind of campaign, maybe one of the 6 new? 😁

There was talk about both a Spitfire and a Hurricane 1942 campaign for the Channel map being made, but I have yet to see them released. I guess those guys gave up on their projects? I think maybe @AEthelraedUnraed was making a hurricane project at one point? 🤔

Well, just look at my avatar and it's clear that Diepe raid in the early Spitfire IX would be really something for me 🙂

The channel map offers a lot of opportunities for interesting campaigns. Still, there aren't really a lot of community campaigns made for the western front.

I just finished two missions in this campaign, and I'm enjoying it again (thank you). When  seeing  that green Manston with no concrete runway, I´d say that 1941-43 Channel map should be doable.

2 missions in, and I'm enjoying this campaign as well.  Keep them coming!   Being Canadian, I would love something to do with Dieppe.

Thats great that you enjoy it so far 😄 

The early version of this campaign was by a huge margin my most popular. It seems that the community really liked earlier RAF campaigns.

It was a lot easier to find historical sources for this campaign compared to the late war Luftwaffe, or worse, late war Romania. The RAF seems to have preserved its history well, making historical campaigns much easier!

A dieppe campaign is sertainly a possibility! The biggest issue woud be the longer flight time over the channel that many people seems to not like! Unless you do it for luftwaffe 🤔🤔

too bad we don't have Sevastopol on the map. the evacuation there was very intense. a have a hole book/military study on the matter, very detailed, with tons of maps, made by the Romanian Navy recently. In rest, the hole late war in Romania was a crushing defeat/retreat/ US city bombing and leveling, since the Soviet forces were at their might. But still good stuff for a campaign. An underdog campaign is actually more challenging.

Nope....I want to start it over again, because, You know,....it's a narative. Plus that with all those GREAT movies you've recommended, i've consumed all my spare time.
