There is a prolific military video footage poster on X, hw97karbine, who says the problem is typically that when these films were first transferred from the archives, the transfer process methods were still not of the best quality, so you end up with these crappy-resolution films still floating around. According to him, the original footage was typically quite high-resolution for the time (as his posts show). 1 1 Quote
