Mysticpuma Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 The Kuban Desert mod has some great Tuskegee missions. I was just wondering if there is already, or if there could be, a skin mod to make the pilots more historically accurate? 2 Quote

As far as I understood there are skins for US Bomber Crews, a US Pilot and a US P47 Pilot. And another question would be which skin is used for the P40 that was in the desert UK and US. I suppose a real skin artist could do this. Quote
Stonehouse Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 I seem to remember this exact question being raised in the old forums and someone did a repaint of the US pilot model and posted it. Perhaps do a search over there. Quote
Mysticpuma Posted December 24, 2025 Author Posted December 24, 2025 Completely missed it and there it already was: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/92154-mod-for-tuskegee-airmen/#comment-1357221 Created by AEthelraedUnraed: "I already did so, a while back. It should still work. https://www.mediafire.com/file/pi4n9813mrwpgye/il2_black_pilots.zip/file Note that because of limitations with the game, this changes the skins for *all* RAF pilots as well as *all* USAF fighter pilots except the P-47." 1 Quote

Haven't looked at the files in the old mod but that sounds odd. There are three models pilot_brit and pilot_usaf_early and pilot_usaf. Each with their own 3d model (ie mgm file) and textures. The aircraft such as the P51D and P51B use a different pilot bot by country ID eg: where country 102 is UK and 103 is US AlterBotConfig = -1, 102, -1, -1, "", "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/Bots/BotPilot_P47_RAF43.txt" AlterBotConfig = -1, 103, -1, 19440901, "", "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/Bots/BotPilot_P47_USA43.txt" [end] [attach=0] position= -0.650, -0.030, 0 object = "LuaScripts/WorldObjects/Bots/BotPilot_P47_USA44.txt" [end] The way the above works is if country id is 102 use the RAF model and if 103 and prior to 1 Sept 1944 use the USAF 1943 model else if 103 and after 1 Sept 1944 use the USAF 44 model. Looking at the bot files: BotPilot_P47_RAF43 uses Pilot_Brit and BotPilot_P47_USA43 uses Pilot_USAF_early and BotPilot_47_USA44 uses Pilot_USAF. So, I would have thought that RAF pilots should be easily isolated from the repaint. 1 Quote
