It looks fantastic. It would be amazing for choppers or maybe another tank crew as well.

Hey this looks fantastic and unexpected!

This might solve the maps feeling a little bit empty on Great Battles. Also gives an scale of the map.

Wow I was just flying around in GB the other day and imagining its world being a little more populated when flying low over towns and villages Then yall come and release this!

The DD is right, this will add flavor to the sim that makes it more immersive. I’m starting to feel very optimistic about Korea!

Two big thumbs up!

Will it be similar to the soldiers on Il-2 GB airfields, that are attached to certain building types or can these people be freely placed, for example as peasants working on fields or walking along roads?

This is the last diary entry for this year, but not the final news.

What follows after this is announcement of the winter sale. Is that the 'final news', or are we still to expect something about forthcoming GB aircraft that are independent of S&L? This has been dragged out for far too long, frankly, and I struggle to see what 1C benefit with such drip-drip news across both titles.

Looks great but textures quality from the low altitude looks pretty much the same as in Great Battle's.

It is work in progress or finle version of ground textures?

The addition of people to the world adds a lot of immersion—especially the technicians, ground crews, and guards already present at airbases.

It would be great if, where appropriate, these characters could interact with the player character, not just exist as background elements. For example, enemy troops capturing the player after a forced landing or bailout behind enemy lines, and on the friendly side, medics or firefighters responding if you crash or land badly at your own airbase.

Also, it would be nice to see some civilian shipping —fishing boats or small coastal traffic—would be a good touch too.

This is great! It's something that I always wanted in GB, especially the airfields feeling more alive when you are taxiing.

Will we be able to add some specific characters and set waypoints in the mission editor?

I can see this taking custom missions and campaigns, or even cinematics, to the next level.

Having such an empty world is one of my main frustrations with GB, so this could be great.

It will be like GB, so since a field is just a texture, no, they won't be able to be placed there.

Building blocks contain collision models which can contain info for navigation and spawning.

I recall that Jane's Fighters Anthology had a specific type of ground texture, that would shoot at you periodically as you flew overhead... I don't think you could bomb it either? I think they used that on the Vietnam map... it added to the ambience...! Of course the tech here is very different - different era, different engines...

That said, the benefits of having a building which has a window that happens shoot machine-gun fire from the second story (etc.) can be great for mission designers... so the idea that anything could have a gun, anywhere could be a firing position... has some merits. So it is still something to think about. I still regret not having PIATS and PTRD included for Tank Crew! I should be a lot more nervous around buildings which could have infantry hidden in them... they should be able to shoot back.

As for the content of development update itself:

All I can say is that this will be fantastic. Truly ground breaking.

I hope the textures will be improved in the released game for all my friends who shelled out thousands to upgrade their pc's and many big rubles to preorder. Looks a lot like GB at present. Not a great selling point. And where are the horses? FC has horses. And why don't they ever mow the grass?

Also, this new feature really makes me suddenly desire the U-2/Po-2 or a Helicopter... it would be really nice to get low and slow with these details...

That is a good point about pack animals - they were really important, especially for the DPRK...

There is infantry in GB that's independent of a building. Would be cool to have pilot crews and superiors to gather at a briefing. Then be able to get up and hop on your plane.

Also, get a load of the new trees! Hopefully there are some variations on different parts of the map (Korea has some other very distinctive tree species)... but looking more distinct from Great Battles... it is exciting.

They have previously announced infantry units (which presumably will be able to move independently): https://media.il2-korea.com/news/dd_25

My view is if to make it believable, there should also be livestock and animals. Not just people. Although having people is better than having an empty town like in GB.

I like the livestock / animals idea. Also the civilian shipping would add a lot of immersion as well. Can't wait to hear more about combat AI. Would love something on par or better than Wings over Flanders or Wings over the Reich.

I don't expect something truly believable after the empty world of GB. I'm happy with a significant improvement.

My only negative take is the grass.  Why so tall?  and why would it be impinging on a traveled path?

Not just livestock, but once we get to the Pacific, they should add snakes and sharks. I hope they make a PBY and there will be missions to search for survivors, where after landing it will be necessary to scare away sharks by firing a service rifle. (I don't mean that entirely seriously🙂)
