Technically speaking the Wright brother's first flew in 1900 and had their first demonstration of fully controlled flight in 1904 (when they demonstrated a complete circuit)...

I mean, the Wrights take the record in 1904 - but I don't believe the 1903 flight is the one that really mattered!
