Scripted Campaigns revival

Hello , gentlemen!

During the past years, many scripted campaigs were made, with great effort and dedication, and the results were, quite often, worthy of that endeavour.

What was often achieved was an incredibly immersive experience, surpassing other playing modes.

This legacy is to be continued, but also the old ones deserve to be kept alive, for replaying, but also to be enjoyed by newer virtual pilots.

I have collected this gems along the years, but it has to be their creators those who repost them here.

That is why I urge those gifted and generous people, who spent countless hours building adventures from the old times of WW2, to post their work again here, on the new frontier of the most immersive ww2 sim so far.

Thank you Jaegermeister for starting this job by reposting your wonderful adventures (scripted campaigs).

I kindly and hearty ask Sandmarken, Vendigo, Juri_JS, BlackSix, Jade_Monkey, Utopioneer, The Syndicate, IckyATLAS, Samson, Saldy, AEthelraedUnraed, Gambit21, [DBS]Tx_Tip, Veteranen, NETSCAPE, Walter_Nowotny, CzechTexan, DF_Lion, SARFlytitus and many others to repost their work again in Scripted Campains section.

I agree with your thoughts on reposting scripted campaign threads and I am sure some others will do that here. There are others that have done some nice campaigns in the past and are no longer maintaining or updating them. I was tasked with updating some of those campaigns a couple of years back, and I may post new threads regarding those here.

I will probably also create new threads regarding Flying Circus campaigns that do not have a separate area in this new forum, but are still relevant.

People who make content (for free) can also consider licensing it under a Creative Commons license to reduce the chance that the content gets lost.

For example, the CC BY-NC 4.0 license requires attribution, so people can't pass your work off as their own, but people can share it, so even if the maker is no longer around, people can keep sharing the content. So if the forum/dropbox/etc disappears where you uploaded it, people who already downloaded it, can upload it again somewhere. And people can resave the mission, fix bugs or otherwise build on what you made, again with attribution. However, people cannot sell the content under that license.

To license it this way, you can add a text file with a link to the license to your content, or add a copyright notice to the forum post where you share it, like so:

hmm.  That's a lot of reposting!

The old forum will still be available, correct?

It would be beneficial to make a Link to direct members and especially new members to the old forum campaigns.

I will slowly migrate my campaigns to this new forum and some of them need to be updated anyway.

Yeah, the old forum will remain as read only. But there is indeed no rush.

Copy paste the text from your old post into a new one and add a link. It only takes a couple of minutes. You don't have to redo anything. If you have a download link in the original post, it carries over and you don't even need the link to the old post. Any screenshots or images you may have also copy over so you don't have to upload them again.

It would be a lot of help if you guys were to add the requirements for your campaigns, e.g. the Little Brother campaigns and the Hurricane Diaries need the Siege & Liberation module. For newcomers it would be much easier if they saw at first glance what is needed for the campaign.

It feels so wonderful to see that a good number of those incredibly good campaigns are alive again here. For me the new forum was empty without them. 

Hope more "oldies but goldies" will come.

Already bought the Hurricane and the IAR 80 yesterday; the IAR 80 not least because of your custom campaigns for it. Now I just need to convince myself to buy the S&L module.

@sandmarken 's custom campaigns. I only helped a bit. The campaign is awesome, but be prepared, you're on the weak and loosing side by now.

Also CzechTexan did some good job with the IAR !

that you need just for the Hurricane Diaries campaign. NOT for the IAR, that goes on the Kuban map.

What can I say: the module is expensive , but imho, the best so far.

Also, there are some incredible campaigns, but really, incredible and very innovative, with new stuff, that are in birth. And are located on the Odessa map. Only for those and i think it worth it. So a bird told me.......:) 🙂 

Also, just as a hint....:).....make sure you get the Macchi too.....

I'll get to that one too. Still lots of stuff that needs to be updated I'm afraid.

There will be a good bit more content coming out for the Odessa map once there has been enough time to create it. Once the Siege and Liberation module is complete and the Leningrad map is available, that will also have a slight delay until 3rd party content creators have time to produce missions and campaigns for it.

In my quest for reviving/keeping alive some extraordinary good older missions, i'll start calling some creators that i haven't seen on the new forum and, if they are gone, i'll try to repost their work (that that i own on HDD) updated, only after i have replayed the campaign(s) and i am sure they still work acceptably.

so, because i'm playing now an awesome campaign called "The fall of Velike Luki" (Soviet Hurricanes) I am calling:

@Jade_Monkey , have you transited on this new forum ? We're missing you and your great work !

I've been mostly inactive in the forums for some time now, I think I just burned out after a decade of flight sims and needed a hiatus.

However, I am following the news for Korea and looking forward to coming back to flight sims when it's available.

 

I'm not actively maintaining any old missions, people can use the editor to update the versions if required.

So glad to hear from you. Your campaigns are awesome, and with your permission I would re-post on the new forum those that i'm replaying, so they don't get lost in the haze of time. Of course updated with the editor and under your banner.

When I was trying to figure out how to use the new mission builder, I looked at Jade_Monkey missions to get some tips.  Thanks for that!
