I haven’t been too keen on Korea. It’s hard to compete with the grand scale and sheer amount of machines from WW2.

However this video grabbed my interest in exploring the Korean War air theater.

Looking forward to some more in game footage showcases to decide if I want to pull the trigger or not.

What was really nice was seeing that big formation of bombers!

Very impressive with the vapor trails. Also love the museum with details of the cockpit, so I don't have to guess.

I also happened to find a video of the IL-2 Korea stand at Igromir, although someone filmed it on a rotten potato, so the quality is extremely poor. But you can still more or less see it at 21 minutes into the video:

This was very encouraging as someone who has been on the fence. The game is clearly shaping up well!

While the Russians were able to play the game, us Westerns only get a teaser lol

People present in Igromir were able to play. I doubt they would kick you out just for not being a russian, if you were there as well.

Very very nice. My only doubt is if I should by the founders edition or the normal one.

Everything I'd hoped for, the interaction method with the static model is well thought out and presented.

Those shots of the front of the MiG while flying then looking down into the cloudscape is superb, as is I can't wait in VR to dive

onto those bomber formations as will also be the case in 2D.

Excellent the 1C team!

The gaming conference is in the same city as where 1CGS is. So it is way easier for them to organize this, rather than an event in the US or the EU. Even just getting a visa can be very difficult.

Yes, we would love to show this off at a convention here in the US, but that is just very difficult right now.

@LukeFF

Do you know whether the cockpit layout page can be viewed while in flight? That would be really nice.

Looking very good.  The large bomber formations and vapor trails are excellent - lots of action.  The museum feature is also very nice, particularly the instrument panel section. The map also seems to have more variety and detail.  I would like to see a longer gameplay reveal as a follow up.  Perhaps a full mission? It would be ok to cut out ingress and egress where there is no action.  I’m really looking forward to release!

I'm not sure about that right now. I'll see if I can get an answer.

It's not in the plans right now, but it may happen later.

Normally I am a die hard prop flyer.  I love the old birds, but seeing that short trailer, I really want to get into a Mig or Saber and mix it up at 500+ mph.

Not that I won't be trying to take down a Mig with one of the piston engine fighters, I most certainly will, and i will bag one.

Be sure.

The first flight I made in an Li-2, using keyboard and mouse, I used the front gun to take out a Ju-52... In Rise of Flight I once finished off an H.P. O/400 with a pistol... so, yes... I'm planning on it too! I suspect it'll be quite a bit easier.

Yes, I suspect for us old prop flyers, we'll have to adjust our perspective.

I suspect it might be a bit like early WWI - mastering the plane first, with aircombat being a secondary challenge. These planes had some pretty nasty handling quirks... so learning to fly them precisely enough to get a good kill might be as much fun as more complex air combat manoeuvres are (and we'll have props for some of those more dance-like forms of combat).

P.S. I'm not saying that the F-86 and Mig-15 didn't dogfight, I am saying that avoiding spins while trying to dogfight might be a challenge worth embracing.

Looking at these bomber streams - I can't help but wonder if the developers might be tempted to do 1944-1945 Western Europe before the Pacific...?

I personally got very tired over the years of every simulation being centred on the 8th Airforce (Rather than the 9th Airforce or Second Tactical Air Force)... and with other theatres being overlooked as well... but I remember getting the Fw-190A8 with the added armour and suddenly thinking I should be making a head on pass against something bigger and then diving inverted to get away from the escort... 🙂

I'd personally prefer a Midwar scenario (1941-1943) on a less often modelled subject, but even I can see the temptation when looking at this!

Love both the new UI as well as the in-flight portion, excited for Korea

@LukeFF any chance there is a DD for the mission builders? Any details on enhancements for campaigns, new briefing style, any bones you can throw?

That looks like a convincing 30,000 feet above earth, that's a hard thing to get in most sims, the vastness of the sky and horizons look greatly expanded.  Hope to see it on a clear cold day with no haze soon to see the scale of it even better.  A big world feel as it should be, something always missing in nearly every sim to date.  Looks like you nailed it.

Currently one doesn't feel much threat from much farther above or below because there doesn't seem to be as much noticeable depth there to begin, it's hard to perceive much beyond a band closer to your own altitude.  Not a whole lot of difference in being at 15,000 feet and 25,000 except for the aircraft performance and a contrail, the world environment just doesn't change enough, not enough detail and depth to see a big change anyway.  Looks like those days are behind, Korea world looks huge with lots of room for mass aircraft.

It's going to kick some butt if this is the actual case, a pilot should feel small if alone, and paranoid in a huge combat zone overwhelmed by the sheer size of the threat.

I don't have anything to share about that at this point, sorry. I'm sure it'll be covered at some point, though.
