andysonofbob Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 (edited) Hi I have managed to set a spawn point for myself and my wife to fly from. I am now trying to create a couple of AI opponents. All guides say I need to use the complex trigger to start the process. I have added the scripts for our plane selections to the Complex trigger. It all starts well enough, following the guides, until I want to link an MCU (any MCU) to the planes I wish to use as AI. The MCUs connect to each other, the just don't connect to the two planes! Any idea what I am doing wrong? Am I missing something preventing a connection? Thanks! edit - I also tried spawners with counters, they all connect to each other, just not to the planes I want for AI. Edited December 10, 2025 by andysonofbob Quote
Billsponge1972 Posted December 10, 2025 Posted December 10, 2025 (edited) Your AI aircraft are set to in air but their altitude setting is on the ground, they also have no waypoints or control mcu's to direct them where to go and what to do. Also, to simplify, you don't really need a complex trigger or an activate trigger if the AI planes are already enabled in their advanced properties dialogue, just a mission begin MCU and a timer MCU Target linked to the first waypoint. And the waypoint object linked to the lead AI aircraft. Edited December 10, 2025 by Billsponge1972 1 Quote
andysonofbob Posted December 10, 2025 Author Posted December 10, 2025 (edited) Thanks for you help! I really appreciate it. It's still not working though. I have removed the second plane to simplify things as much as possible. I must be doing something stupid. Is there a screenshot that I am missing? Would it be possible to show me the stuff I need for the most basic set up please? Even just a single AI opponent's plane heading somewhere. Thanks again! Jaegermeister Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 (edited) @andysonofbob. This would be your most basic activated AI aircraft to use as a target; Edited December 11, 2025 by Jaegermeister 1 Quote
DFLion Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Andysonofbob, See attached pic of one of my missions, sorry for the poor writing on the pic. showing MCU's required. 1. Waypoint trigger. Object your lead plane and put in its height and speed (speed same as your plane MCU) 2. Your plane. Same height as Waypoint, link formation planes to your plane (V formation) all planes must be at the same height. Open up your planes MCU and add event 'on moved to' waypoint number ( after closing a purple line will appear to your first trigger waypoint. 3. Trigger Activate - object your planes identification number. 4. Trigger Timer - put in 2 seconds. 5. Command formation - V formation, safe. Object your planes identification number. 6. Translator mission begin - link to Trigger date/time. 7. Trigger date/time - Date and time must be exactly the same as your mission date/time, unless you want to start your AI planes later. 8. Translator subtitle - open up MCU and mark Allied and Axis 'true' 9. Link all your MCU's exactly the same as shown in the pic. Hope this helps DFLion MCU_AI_Air_Start.docx 1 Quote
andysonofbob Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 Thanks for the replies! And the attached. I'll give it a shot when I get back from work. 🙂 Quote
andysonofbob Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 I still can't do it. I started again to test the simple one As you can see I have added the four MCU nodes and have right-clicked --> Selected Object Menu --> Add Target. They all connected without fuss. I have added the plane, raised it to 1000 (same height as I have set the waypoint), clicked to make it a linked entry, nothing else. None of the MCUs are want to link to it. Do I need to add more info to the MCU? I don't know how to connect the plane to the MCUs or vice versa. Please walk me through it. If I add another plane, planes will connect to planes. I just can't connect planes to MCU I bet I am missing something so obvious, people haven't thought to think it... Any ideas what that obvious thing is? Is it a setup thing? Mission Type is Deathmatch Thanks! Quote

andysonofbob Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 https://www.loom.com/share/bf5c7ef64de24acf9c6291ebe68fcbae I have added a Loom video of me trying to set it up? It's a minute or so long (you can speed it up). I have tried to show how I can connect everything to everything else. Just not the planes to the MCUs Quote
andysonofbob Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 Sussed! IT!!!! Can you see what I had accidentally done... 1 Quote
andysonofbob Posted December 11, 2025 Author Posted December 11, 2025 Just in case someone in the future, learning the editor and not knowing what they don't know, has the same issue as me... What I had done was somehow turn off a toggle to a show a type of connection line. My planes were connecting to the MCUs, I just couldn't see the lines confirming the connections as I had somehow turned them off! Quote
