Complex Engine Management

Will we have the option to turn Complex Engine Management on & off like we currently do in BoS?

It would seem unlikely that they'd remove it, given how much use it gets.

Certainly isn't as necessary with jet engines in the mix.  Have a feeling prop pilots will be in a minority class anyway far as numbers.

I really have no idea of how my seat time will break down between Jets and Props.  I am the big modern jet hater in my squad.  Don't care for BVR engagements at all, but Korea is still a fighter pilot's scenario, not to mention jet powered ground pounding with unguided munitions.  But the prop ground pounders have the edge in payload, loiter time, and probably accuracy.  I guess I will have to see how it all shakes out.

Yup. Nothing more than a throttle to control the engine, once it's going. The tricky bit is dealing with the slow response, and in not letting yourself get below best sustained turn speed by yanking constantly on the stick. The engine is simple, using it to its best is the difficult part. I suspect a lot of experienced prop-simmers are going to be in for a bit of fresh schooling, once they get into jet-on-jet combat.

As for jet ground-pounding with unguided ordnance, per BlitzPig's comments, there is definitely an art to it, and given the speed you are doing it at, there is less opportunity to wing it so trying to meet pre-planned parameters (speed, angle, pickle height) pays off. Or would If I could ever get it right at all consistently - in DCS I have the unfortunate habit of giving up, substituting an AV-8B for the A-4 I've been ground-pounding in (and even that has A-to-G radar range assist) and dropping 10 GBU-54s from 20,000ft, all at once, smack on the target. Satisfying, but not much of a learning experience once you've learned the correct button-pressing sequence.

One thing that was new for jet pilots even back then was the weapons engagement ranges, especially for things like rockets. More than one F-80 pilot, for instance, ended up being caught in the blast of his own rockets because they were used to the firing range needed when flying something like a P-51.

Also handling and low speed manoeuvrability.
