New Computer build - need Key binding help

The good part is that I've built a new computer! I bought an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with a GeForce RTX 5070 12 GB Graphics card and 64 GB of DDR 5 memory! I also bought a VKB Joystick (Gladiator NXT EVO ‘Space Combat Edition), Throttle (STECS Throttle System Mk.II - Mini Plus) and Rudders (T-Rudders Mk.V Rudder Pedals) & don't know if the hat switch on my joystick is the problem! I'm ready to roll -- if I can get it all working right!

The issue I'm having is that it's been so long since I did the key bindings on my old computer joystick and throttle that I've forgotten where to bind some of the buttons. My main problem is the pilot view zoom in and out.

1- The Pilot Head Camera zoom in and out, defaults to: "Plus and Minus on the keypad"! It zooms in and out just fine when I use the plus and minus keys on my keyboard! However, when I bind that to a hat switch on my joystick, it'll zoom in but it won't zoom out! Am I trying to bind to the wrong buttons? Why will it zoom in but not zoom out?

You didn't accidently assign Pilot Head: zoom instead of Pilot Head: zoom in?  There's two different functions.

I've been away since early Friday and just got home from a long plane ride! I'll certainly take a look at it tomorrow -- as I don't know what I did -- but thank you for the suggestion! I've certainly done something wrong!

Still can't get it right. I put in free flight and experimented!

I found the default Free camera "Numpad plus" and "Numpad minus" to be what I want! However, when I program "Numpad plus" and "Numpad minus" to a hat switch, the "Numpad plus" the view works as it should when I push the hat switch up -- but when I pull the hat switch back, the view looks down into the cockpit while zooming out but when I release the hat switch, the view goes back to the zoomed in forward view!

I've tried the Pilot Head zoom as well as the Pilot Head zoom in -- with the same result!

Then I set everything back to default and deleted all my secondary views -- and started all over with the exact same result!

Any other ideas?

^ I had similar problems some time ago and it was because there were more than one view programmed to one and same button. Try hitting numpad 5 and see, if it temporarily fixes the problem. If it does, this should help: Delete the whole settings file in game (data > input), restart game and program all the settings. Pay especially attention to have just one view for every button. Game creates new folders needed while doing that.

I hit Numpad 5 and held it and the views worked as they should - it temporarily fixed the problem! So -- I carefully did as you suggested and now everything is fixed!

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me with this! It's been keeping me from flying as much as I used to fly on my old computer build! Thank you and I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year -- or Happy Hanukkah or whatever your persuasion!

I hope I can return the favor someday -- thanks again!
