Note for future Sim updates:  Whenever Great Battles is updated, mission files get broken and must be updated, again and again, rendering them unplayable.  In order to fix the missions, open the IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor... in the TOOLS dropdown list, choose "Resave All Missions in Folder" and navigate to the Campaigns and/or Missions folder in your computer (IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles/data/Campaigns) and click "OK".

Dead of Winter is a 10-mission single player scripted campaign in which the Player will fly the P-40E on the Moscow Winter map.  Missions are from January 18-28, 1942.  The time period is toward the end of the Moscow Counteroffensive and when the Russians tried to recapture Rzhev and Vyazma.  A P-40 squadron is based at Lukovnikovo airfield, 44 km north of Rzhev.  All missions, except for one, have air-to-air combat.

*Notes:

You MUST HAVE the MOSCOW MAP and the P-40E.

Skin for the P-40 can be found here:  https://www.mediafire.com/file/zh1er6wnwj8of6n/Slovak_and_P-40_skins.zip/file

A mission is successful when the player destroys a target or makes a successful landing.

If target objectives are completed then it is not necessary to make a landing.

Most missions start on the runway with engine running but there are a couple where you are parked and must taxi to the runway.

Use L-Ctrl+A for Autopilot if necessary.

Mission descriptions are in English-only, sorry.
