Note for future Sim updates:  Whenever Great Battles is updated, mission files get broken and must be updated, again and again, rendering them unplayable.  In order to fix the missions, open the IL-2 Sturmovik Mission Editor... in the TOOLS dropdown list, choose "Resave All Missions in Folder" and navigate to the Campaigns and/or Missions folder in your computer (IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles/data/Campaigns) and click "OK".

 

Velikie Luki to Toropets is a 15-mission single player scripted campaign in which the Player will fly the IL-2 model 1941 on the Velikie Luki map.  The time period is August 21-30, 1941.  This campaign is made especially for the Sturmovik.  It is similar but different from the previous "Defend Velikie Luki 1941" campaigns.  Some battles will be familiar while there are also new battles included.  The time period covers the fall of Velikie Luki and the fall of Toropets as the Germans capture all the territory up to the Western Dvina River.  

 

During mid-July, the VVS sent 47 SAD northwards to the Velikie Luki battle.  This Composite Aviation Division included the Sturmoviks of 61 ShAP and 215 ShAP.  Inspiration for the missions are from actual battles noted by author David M. Glantz.

 

*Notes:  You MUST HAVE the IL-2 model 1941.

A mission is successful when the player destroys a target or makes a successful landing.  If target objectives are completed then it is not necessary to make a landing.

All missions start on the runway with engine running.

I assume the mission was a good one; the wingmen attacked targets in the first mission. I'm surprised, to be honest. I hope they continue to attack.
I looked at several missions published here, and wingman attacks are extremely limited or nonexistent, which is quite disappointing.
