1C Game Studios LukeFF Posted April 10 1C Game Studios Posted April 10 Hey everyone! Today, we continue showing you the new map features coming to Korea, with a focus on industrial features: https://media.il2-korea.com/news/dd_68 20 7 1
AEthelraedUnraed Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Nice to see dams finally represented in the IL2 series. Now we just need a flyable bomber to destroy them 🙂
sevenless Posted April 10 Posted April 10 This in the Ruhr area on the Bodenplatte map would be awesome! 2
Falcon41 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Great development blog, could this new technology be applied to future updates/mods of Great Battles? Falcon 41
Avimimus Posted April 10 Posted April 10 This really does make me want a Po-2 biplane, a tank, or even a helicopter or G5 torpedo boat...basically anything to get low and slow with to explore these facilities! 12 minutes ago, Falcon41 said: Great development blog, could this new technology be applied to future updates/mods of Great Battles? Falcon 41 I gather that it would require recreating the maps from scratch. There are so many new technologies here that they can't be simply added to existing work, but the work has to be created to make use of these technologies from the beginning. But there is no reason why future WWII or WWI modules couldn't be created based on these technologies someday - they'd just have to be made from scratch.
CatteMoto Posted April 10 Posted April 10 A subtle but significant upgrade. Now, if only we could ride our base bicycle through the factories as well.... 1
gecko Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Holy smoke(stack)s! What an update, just kept getting better and better as I read. The dams look incredible. To be honest though, those cirrus clouds stretching across the whole expanse of the sky kept stealing the show for me. This will be an incredible environment to fly in at every altitude. 1 1
Mission_bug Posted April 10 Posted April 10 The work on this map and the details in it are truly outstanding, congratulations to all involved on your excellent work during the development for Korea both in the aircraft and for the landscape. I think many will want a jeep so they can go touring rather than flying though. Take care and be safe. Wishing you all the very best, Pete. 1
Blitzen Posted April 11 Posted April 11 I think we really need F9-F’s and the bridges at Tokori to do it right.. 1 4
plepew Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Boy the landscape is looking phenomenal! I'm just amazed at how much detail seems to be everywhere. Even screenshots of fields and trees look like postcards. I can't wait to fly some missions and check it out from the stunning cockpits you've been showing us! 1
Juri_JS Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Looks good, although I would add some fences/walls to the factories to make them look even more realistic. Also nice to see the different types of forests. I hope in the future the devs will also tell us about the field fortifications available in Il-2 Korea. Will the updated terrain engine allow placing trenches?
76.IAP-Black Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Is it able to land or crashland on structures like bridges, buildings and docks. The current il2 object collision model prevents it on maps like kuban, Normandie and odessa. You can't land on the flat docks without destroying your plane or stay floating in midair.
LuftManu Posted Saturday at 09:38 AM Posted Saturday at 09:38 AM Woah! There is a huge increase in quality from other industrial areas like in Bodenplatte! Great work guys! Also, it's great to have the dams, factories and other important bits in the map! this will add a lot of inmersion for attacks or mission makers! Thank you team! Can't wait! 2 Rig: RTX 5090 Astral 32 GB / Ryzen 9850 X3D /Gigabyte X870E Pro X3D Motherboard / 48 GB DDR5 Teamgroup 8000 MT/s / MSI 321 URX QD-OLED 32" 4K

Blitzen Posted Sunday at 02:52 PM Posted Sunday at 02:52 PM Major McGee, Well the movie Bridges of Tokori was made at the MGM Studio in Culver City, so not too far from Malibu. Actually the special effects including countryside.planes and pyrotechnics were all done in house at MGM and for their time ( nun computer generated,) were quite effective for their time especially when seen on the big screen ( in my case I saw them from the front seat in our 1949 Chrysler station wagon at the local drive-in..) Now all we need to do a repeat of the mission in the film is the carrier U.S.S. Oriskany and maybe Grace Kelly to come home to! ( BTW; In the original IL-@ Sturmovik ( modded) they did have Korean missions from carriers for F-9-F Panthers. One of which was designed to duplicate this mission complete with very accurate North Korean flak.Fun if you could live through it ! 1
MajorMagee Posted Sunday at 06:53 PM Posted Sunday at 06:53 PM (edited) The final scenes of the 1954 war film The Bridges at Toko-Ri, specifically where Lt. Harry Brubaker (William Holden) makes his final stand after crashing his aircraft, were filmed at Fox Studio Ranch. This location is now part of the Malibu Creek State Park in California west of Culver City. This is also the area where the outdoor scenes for the TV series MASH were recorded.
