On Closed Bases Training and Dogfight server I duel with 109K4. I usually don't fly online air to air in the P-47 because of engine management requirements. But this time I gave it a go. Probably should have pulled harder in those loops and would have gotten better lead on him. I was surprised how I was able to keep on him as long as I did.

Wow! You maneuvered well against the K-4 without using the flaps. I hope you try fighting with the flaps next time. In this game, the P-47 becomes a turn-fighting aircraft the more you extend its flaps. In my case, when I extended the flaps 50–75% at low speeds, I was able to catch up to every German aircraft that appeared in the game by turn fight. Since engine heat increases as the speed decreases, it is recommended to open the cowl flaps to 20–30% or more and maximize the mixture.

Also, I recommend utilizing the gyro sight. The default weapon convergence in the game is 300m, so you should set the gyro sight distance to 328 yards and set the Bf109's wingspan to 32 feet. This will change the gyro sight to the same size as the Bf109's wingspan at a distance of 300m. During engagement, if the tips of the enemy aircraft's wings are aligned with the gyro sight, all bullets will hit that point. You can utilize this by aiming further forward than the enemy aircraft if its wingspan is smaller than the gyro sight, and by using the gyro sight's fixed sight to aim and fire if its wingspan is larger.

Below is a video of I playing with the P-47 D-28(with 150 oct) in the past. The section from 00:00 to 02:28 shows me intercepting an Me262 using the gyro sight, and the section after 02:28 shows me engaging a K-4. I think operating the Thunderbolt like in this video would be helpful. Nice to meet a fellow Thunderbolt user. 😄

Thanks Kodam... I usually use flaps successfully with P-38 and Mosquitos. Surprises everybody! Next time I'll try with the Jug.

Also, I do like the gyroscopic sight just. I set convergence and sight for 200 yards.
