Alonzo Posted March 30 Posted March 30 (edited) Combat Box is focused on late-war, historically-inspired scenarios including Bodenplatte and Normandy plane sets. We offer both 'classic' scenario-based missions and a persistent, dynamic campaign. Each scenario and campaign is meticulously hand-crafted with realistic airfields, challenging targets, spectacular effects, and strategic mechanics such as radar zones. The server is hosted in North America with good ping to Europe. In addition to our high quality missions, we have a number of things that we think make Combat Box stand out: Highly engaged admin team and community. While we can't please all of the people all of the time, we sure do try. You can talk to us here or on the Discord, we regularly run feedback surveys, and we pay attention to our #suggestions channel. Interesting, historically-inspired missions with cool mechanics. We've pioneered many new multiplayer mechanics including spotting zones and simulated radar, "recon" targets and semi-randomized map layouts, as well as strategic interaction between mission objectives (e.g. jet fuel trains supply the Me-262 field, and players can cut off the fuel supply so there are no more jets). Apollo dynamic campaign engine. Behind the scenes, Combat Box runs Apollo — our custom-built campaign management platform. Apollo tracks front lines, airfield supply levels, and strategic objectives across every mission, so the war actually evolves based on what players do. Destroy the right targets and you'll degrade the enemy's ability to fight back. Leave them alone and they'll hit you harder next map. Every mission is a chapter in an ongoing campaign, not a standalone event. CB Radio featuring AI voice callouts over SRS. This unique-to-Combat-Box feature means you get realistic airfield and command chatter when on frequency in SRS. Our radio voices are powered by professional-grade AI text-to-speech, with distinct regional accents: American, British, Australian, and German voices, each cast appropriately for their role. Some calls are purely for immersion — like a controller dressing down a pilot for bringing their aircraft back in pieces — but many carry real tactical value: areas of heavy fighting, enemy air activity, or threats to your airfield. Tune in, it might save your life. Radar Controlled Intercept (RCI) — coming soon. We're bringing back and overhauling our simulated 1940s ground-controlled intercept system. RCI allows trained Officers to direct fighters onto contacts using period-accurate radar procedures, adding a whole new layer of coordinated air defence to the server. Watch this space. Customized campaign website including a live mission timer, mission planning map, and next-map information. View your pilot history and stats at combatbox.net. Regular community events such as Sketch's Friday Night Flights and structured campaign nights. Join our Discord at https://discord.combatbox.net for up-to-date event information and to say hello to the CB community. View your pilot and mission stats at combatbox.net. For in-flight comms we recommend SRS so you can hear other pilots and interact with our AI voice bot. SRS has auto-join and coalition security enabled. We have over fifty maps available — here are some teasers. The Legend of Y-29. New Years Day, 1945. Hoping to catch the Allies hungover or still drunk from the evening's celebrations, German forces launch the largest coordinated air strike of the war. Operation Bodenplatte is designed to grind the heel of the Luftwaffe into Allied airfields and achieve total control of the air. Advanced Landing Ground "Y-29", home of the 352nd and 366th Fighter Groups, sits directly in the path of the German strike. Lt. Col John Meyer, suspecting a surprise attack on New Years Day, persuades Allied Command to let him field an early patrol before providing escort to bombers headed to Berlin. As the Luftwaffe approach Y-29, a flight of P-47 Thunderbolts are circling overhead, with a dozen P-51 Mustangs on deck ready to take off... (Image by The Nines) Mitchell's Men. March 5th, 1945. As winter starts to fade, the Allies hold all the momentum. After recent victories in Nuess, Mönchengladbach, and Trier, US forces are knocking on the door of Köln (Cologne). The USAAF has scheduled a series of daylight bombing raids on targets north of the city to slow reinforcements as well as further hamper the German war effort. Though the German forces weaken by the day, their resolve, and weapons, are still strong. The Wunderwaffe Me-262 jet fighters still patrol the skies to threaten bombers, while P-51s, Spitfires, and Tempests tangle with Fw 190s and Bf 109s.... (Image by Magic Zach) The 262 Menace. September, 1944. The Allies are slowly driving German forces back across Europe and into the heartland of the Reich itself. In southern England, preparations are under way for the ambitious Operation Market Garden. The Luftwaffe's Me-262 jet fighter has entered service, delayed by Hitler's insitence on converting it to a bomber, but is nonetheless inflicting losses on Allied forces. The Allies attempt to counter the "262 Menace" by striking the jets operating base at Eindhoven. Meanwhile, the Luftwaffe attack Antwerp, a deep-water port held by the Allies which is being used to supply the front line... (Image by Alonzo) Each 'classic' mission plays for three hours. When the Apollo campaign is running, each 'day' in the campaign is a two-hour mission. GPS is off. Some maps feature air starts or runway scrambles, but we have tried to maintain realism wherever possible. Stats are available at combatbox.net, as well as an indication of the current map, time remaining, and next map. Map rotation, mission time of day and weather is continually randomized, so missions play differently each time. Feedback is appreciated. If you find a problem, or have a suggestion please let us know here in this thread, or join our Discord: https://discord.combatbox.net/ Many thanks to the whole of Red Flight for their support during mission design, map making, and testing.
